This one is going to potentially get me tarred and feathered, but oh well. My waverunner just got diagnosed with terminal internal issues. I'm going to replace it with a well cared for used one. Has anyone had any experiences, positive or negative with any particular makes and models? I'd love any useful feedback. I've had two yamaha waverunners and an old kawasaki standup. All have been solid machines. The ski will be used for just crusing around the lake and going to friends places. It's a lot more convenient than having to dock the boat. Thanks in advance.

Well, jetski's are not bad at all IMO. If you drive them like you own the lake, then there are problems. If you drive them and understand what is "acceptable or not acceptable", that is a totally different issue. I would consider your jetski driving in the later part of this.
Now, this is the oportunity for you to get one and definitely learn how to wakeskate if you want. I would get one that would be a "wake series".

I had an ultra 150 and loved it!!
Best friend had a Polaris and his was not as fast, but more stable and fuel efficient.
The new one's are sick, fast, stable fuel efficient, just depends on what your looking for.......Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

I use a friends Kawasaki 3 person jet ski and love it. If I were to get one of my own, I'd get a newer 4-stroke version like the STX-12F. The one thing my friends older unit doesn't have that would be nice is the retracting boarding ladder on the rear. The 2-strokes are smelly, noisier and are starting to be banned on some lakes.

I owned a new 05 SEADOO RXT (3 seater) Supercharged, 4 stroke. This thing could get up and go at speeds of 70 mph (when no boats were around) I owned it before we came to understand it was time for a Tige. I understand how some jetski owners make a bad name for those responsible drivers. Yes, some boat owners should not own a boat either and can be just as rude. The newer Seadoo and Honda models (4 stroke) have come a long way. Go used and I am sure you can pick up a good one. Nothing saying you can not appreciate both Tige and watercraft.Attached FilesNick

I used to own 2 waverunner fx140's. You can get 2002 models for a great price right now, as they have the 4 strokes in them, and they are fuel injected. I used to own the 2 strokes and the 4 strokes are worth it for noise reduction and increased fuel efficiency. Also, no need to mix fuel and oil. Almost no maintenance, just 50 hour oil changes and replace spark plugs every year or so. 140 horsepower was enough for me as they topped out at about 53 mph. You can also go with the HO model with 160 horsepower, but that only gets you a few mph.
Here's a used one at a reasonable price:

I've owned sea doos for a long time, and those are bullet proof as long as you take care of them. If you are looking at turbocharged vs supercharged, here is the difference.
When you hit the throttle on turbo, there is a little "turbo lag" as that turbo kicks in at a certain rpm; vs. supercharged, it's intanly there.
I had an rxp too, and man did that thing rip! You know it's fast when you're going 50, give it the onion, and can still feel the g's.

In addition to our Tige (primary vehicle!) we have a Yamaha waverunner. We have a place on the water where many own waverunners/jet skis. Consensus in the community is that Yamahas, Hondas and Kawasakis are the ones to get. They seem to have less problems than SeaDoo and some others. Agree with those who have talked about getting a 4 stroke as people that have them seem to love them (we have a 2 stroke). Also, pays to look for a clean used one rather than buying new. Good luck!

I've had 2 Sea Doos for over 10 years without major problems. I'm picking up 2 more low hours older Sea Doos for $2600 w/trailer. I'll put a little money and time into cleaning up (filling in bottom scrapes) these. But they run strong and will provide the kids a lot of fun cheap time up at Powell. My little experience is they are all pretty good if taken care of. And they do need some attention from time to time.
