I'm not a tall guy by any means and I crack my head every time I get up from the driver's seat and then again when I go back under. The towers are very low, but it's not as noticeable with the bimini stowed.

Ahhh ok ... Mine had that problem too until i installed longer front straps allowing me to extend the bimini up to full height. Now i can stand up or pass through to the front without issue.

Well guys, I have turned to the darkside. I picked up a new project boat, and it's not a Tige. I'll be picking up a Nautique 2001 in the next couple of weeks. Got the deal worked out today. I was getting the itch for a project, so a friend and I decided to pull the trigger.

I'll get you guys pics as soon as I have some. Winter made me bored, so I had to pull the trigger on something. I briefly considered rebuilding a jetski motor.

After all the work you did on your current Tige, I am sure you feel like you are in a down time with working on boats. Good luck and TTIWWP!!!!

Well my wife and I are going to go out tomorrow and test ride an 05 Centurion Avalanche C4 with 270 hrs. It has factory ballasts, one in front and two in back, an upgraded G Force tower, stereo with speakers in the boat and a tandem trailer. The color is blue hule with blue mid and silver flake mixed in.
It is a repo from Cali and we are set on a price $7000 less than Low Blue Book on NADA with this particular boat. We ran a HIN# check and it came back clean.
The trailer needs new tires because there is no tread left. What do you guys recommend other then Carlisie.
There are some crazy deals with the California repos happening right now for you West cost guys.

There are a ton of boats on the market in CA. It's hard to sell one here since the water is in short supply and then no one can afford anything anymore because of the economy.

As for tires, I have Goodyear tires on it but IMO, stay FAR AWAY from Carlisie tires. I have only hear horror stories about blowouts with them.

                        Da,

Thanks for the info. I have heard about the Carlilse tire blowouts. I had Carlilse on My 22V trailer and heard all about the horror stories of them blowing out. I never experienced that in the long hauls that I did with the boat to Shasta and Eastern Idaho but the temps are alot lower than in Nevada and Arizona.
I feel for you trying to get rid of your 24Ve with the flood of all the dealer repos in Cali and other states. I think your idea of renting it out is a good one if you can find a price per day that satisfies both parties. I looked into renting last spring and the prices were 300+ per day for a piece of crap.
For a guy with no boat this is a open platter to get a steal from if he looks long and hard.
I actually called the dealer I bought my previous Tige from to see where they were at and his prices on 08's were unbelievably high. He obviously isn't worried about having 16 Tiges on his lot.
Pictures to come tomorrow if the test drive goes well.

Good luck Carter, hope you find what your looking for! I've never owned a boat long enough to worry about tires, but I have Carlisle tires and that's all I've ever had on boat and utility trailers. Never had a prob, but seem that many have. Good luck again on that boat demo.......

Good luck, I have the Good Year Marathon tires on my trailer and I love them. I have one more year before replacement takes place. I have not had a blow out year. In my opinion it would be worth searching around and finding Good Year Marathons again but make sure to check the dates on the tires before you buy them.

SBPFan - great news link! Very informative (and a bit scary).

I wish that I could say the same about the Goodyear Marathon tires. I used to love them until I had three of them blowout within 29 expressway miles last Labor Day. Many people swear by them but I have lost faith after that ordeal. And yes, they were properly inflated, not dry-rotted or UV damaged (garage kept) and on about three years old.

After a lot of research, I ended up replacing them with Denman Express from Denman Tire Co.. I order them from 4x4groupbuy.com and had a local tire dealer mount them.

From my research, historically, there were many complaints about the Carlisles and more recently, there are quite a few grumblings about Goodyear. Of course, these two brands are probably the most common on the road and would have a higher propensity for complaints. Some of the issues also arise from dealers/manufacturers skimping on the size necessary and the tires are loaded nearly to capacity or even overloaded.

                              Good Luck!

I agree with that for sure. I plan to look and see what else is out there when i do replace mine. If there is something better I will use them. I am like you order them in and take them to a local tire shop to have them installed if that is what it takes to get a good tire. Make sure you pay the money and have them balanced at the same time and make sure that when they are shipped to you, you get some that are not shelf rotted already and several years old. It is hard to find but it is worth it knowing you have truly a new tire.
