At the time, I looked at the price, looked at the pics, and thought it was a steal. It was considerably cheaper than what I thought were the equivalents from other vendors, so I pulled the trigger. I sort of got what I paid for, and it wasn't long before I replaced it with something else. I'm not trying to bash Ken. I just urge you to do your homework. A handle/line was relatively painless to replace. Underwater lights require holes in your hull, so I am guessing you only want to do this once. While I did not have a very good experience, a couple of friends have had pretty solid ones. I will also say that it was a couple years ago. I used one of his newer handles last summer, and it was considerably better than the one I had gotten from him.

I actually had the exact opposite experience. Ken was great. Heck, one of my extensions even got locked up so tight you couldn't get the knot out w/o cutting it, so I called Ken to order another with all intentions of buying it.... he said don't worry about it, and even paid for shipping to me!

I also got a handle and a rope from Bullet. Both worked out for two seasons and I was only expecting it to last one season.

Center Hole: Use ½” drill bit and drill ¼” ??

What does the back look like? why does it need this hole?

Keep reading. You will then use a smaller drill bit and go all the way through the transom. This is where the wires get inside the boat. Like countersinking so you can seal the wires good with sealant

Seems like a big hole just to hold sealant, a gasket would be way better (IMO). If this light fails 5 years from now and a replacement is not available that’s going to be a big hole to cover. If you only had to drill 4 small holes you could easily just install some stainless screws to plug the holes and be done with it.

Its only 1/2 inch hole a 1/4 inch deep. Thats prettys small in my opinion. If the light fails you could just leave it installed or fill the smaller whole through the transom with sealant and gelcoat over the 1/2 by 1/4 inch hole

If you are that concerned by a spare light now. I am sure Ken would appreciate it

Just don’t like the mental image of holding a ½” drill bit to the transom of a $30k to $60k Tige. Does anyone have a used Cobalt I could practice on?

Try installing a ballast system holding a 1 7/8 inch hole saw to the transom and drilling thru the 1 3/4 inch thick transom. You only get one shot at getting it right if you miss that is a big hole to deal with

On the 2006 Tigé transom light you have to drill a 3.5" hole. You cannot just fill that with putty if you mess up.

Use a very small drill first then verify where it punches through before drilling the big hole. That's how I located my Perfect Pass in the hull bottom. I actually moved the larger hole a half inch or so after seeing where the small drill came through into the bilge.

Bulletlines could be a repackaged name of another manufacturer.

But for what it's worth, check out this link that shows comparisions.
Someone took the time and did an example in a swimming pool.
When you look at pricing....it's pretty clear you get what you pay for.

Now...if you willing to sink $1200 bucks, then you'll be king of "super blue", cause your eyes will immediately go to the SuperNova 2010, which is a 50 watt Xenon that weights 6.2 lbs (each). Thus, sould give you a slightly better wake.

I'k like to know if anybody has spent 2K+ on transome underwater lights????
