Maybe some king of pic competition where we can submit pix of out boats or boat related things and do a monthly/ quarterly vote for the best pic and the winner gets some tigeowners gear, Everyone knows how much we love pix and gear

    Bring back the accessories thread!!!........

Maybe we can have a place to vote people off tigeowners, survivor style.

Really tho, I think the sight is top notch and Matt you do a great job of running it!!!
Does everyone think the avatars are too small?

The picture competition is a great idea. I have thought about that as well. One Idea I had was having members vote on the best owner submitted picture. The winner would have their picture on the home page and maybe a give away as well.

Survivor style, ha that would make things a lot easier. It is a democracy around here right?

I guess having a Tige driving through a CC and smashing it into pieces would be too much to ask for the front page.............

Size definitely matters for my Avatar

          1) Avatars are fine IMO.

          2) I would like to see the home page look more like the forum pages.

          3) No need for bigger PM boxs. I think we can benefit from knowing how to manage our inboxes

          4) I like the idea of Survivor style democracy G-Money mentioned

          5) Matt, you have done one outstanding job with Administering the site.

          6) Maybe remove Andrew as a Moderator??? If you need a replacement, I am sure there are a few itching at Tige HQ that wouldn't mind.

            Thanks for the compliments.

I agree on the PM size but people still seem to want larger capacity. I still say use email or IM.

Andrew was partially removed as a Moderator. I didnt realize he still had some Moderator permissions. That is fixed now.

The home page will include more content from the forums.

One thing I'd add is a way to put more info about your boat...along the lines of Wakesiderides. It gives us a chance to show off our rides and the stuff we add to them.

I think the ability to post larger pix would be nice... or maybe something that resizes your image automatically when you want to post one... It's annoying to resize every picture you want to share...

And X2 for the Accessory thread...

Slightly larger, not by much though. Its just that some avatars I have tried you cant read the print on them due to the small size.

I had come up with the "boat of the week" or "boat of the month" a while back ago.

I also brought up the idea of a chat section. Malibu Crew used to have one but it wasnt used anymore so they got rid of it. That may be different on this site, I mean just look at the PW thread. Personally Im not here to inflate my post count, Im here becuase I like talking with these guys. Im just throwing that out there, I dont know how difficult that might be to do.

x2 about more signature + pics. But as Dingle said they can get annoying and confusing. I think if you just do 4 maximum and have a limit on pic size it shouldnt be too bad.

I have a few coments/suggestions that go along w/ dingle's post. First let me say that this site has been a great help to me through the years as I try and do most of the work on my boat by myself.

4 years ago when I became a regular viewer/contributor to this site, it seemed much more mechanical, tech, DIY, info based. It seems that in the last 2 years there has been a big shift from info and help to entertainment and screwing around. Don't get me wrong, my intention is not to slam anybody but now it takes forever to sift through a ton of useless comments to get any good information. As a result some excelent resources that used to be regulars here don't even bother anymore.

I'm not sure of a solution but let me try a suggestion: A HUGE GLOWING S E A R C H button that floats around the screen for anyone with less than 50 posts.(possibly not allowing a new post until a search has been done 1st) How many winterizing help?, steering problem?, which prop?, or battery install? posts are we going to have to look at before we realize they are all saying the same thing. I am guilty myself. It is now easier to just throw another post out there than to find the answer that is already there. The same goes for "General Information". I put almost everything there because I feel it gets the most looks. On that note, Is there a way to have all new topics come up in a "new topics" section on top of the main page and then after a month it automatically gets put in an appropriate category (stereo, electrical, mech, v-drive, etc.)? I use the New posts feature but I feel an auto-assign feature would really help organize things.

One problem I have with the New Posts feature is if there are several pages of posts and I don't have time to look at them all, after a while I loose them. Would it be possible to add a feature where we could enter a date and have all posts pop up that were added after our selected date?

It may not be the popular opinion but I for one would really like getting this site back to what it was years ago. I've been thinking this for years but never said anything for fear of the infamous black ball. But as they say... you asked for our comments.

Thanks for all you do for this site and thanks for seeking our input on how to make it better.

Good point JSG, that is why I do not read or post as often as there is too much stuff in/on the post.

I do agree with most of what your said. But maybe the reason that there is less tech talk is because that most new members DO search and DO find what they need and therefore dont need to post. Most problems you can have has already been well documented.

I think you kind of contraticted yourself, as you are saying that there should be more talk about boat fixes and such but you dont want people startng new threads on topics we have already covered.

The "new posts" feature is my favorite. It gives me all the new posts since I last logged on and i just skim over it and read the threads im interested in.

I agree with Zad. Also, the playful banter and "screwing around" happens, I think, because this site has really become a friendly community, not just a technical resource. Most of this type of posting is confined to the Off-Topic area, but because of user's familiarity with each other, it does crop up sometimes in the more technical topics, also.

Is this a bad thing? While it can result in a serious thread taking a lighthearted excursion, it also keeps many very knowledgeable users hanging around this site on a regular basis. This means that when a technical question is posted, it will likely be answered with useful information much more quickly. How often would many of these users check in and reply to questions if everything on the site were dry, technical questions? Not nearly as often, IMO.
