Annual 'Let's look at the Lake Powell Snowpack' thread

I think I heard that they are going to try to get to 10 feet but the runoff has alot to do with it. They have to be finished once the lake starts to rise again (about two weeks) so right now they are in a race against time to finish as much as they can and be done so that when it starts to rise they don't get flooded out. They have been digging out as much as they can, trying to go as low as the lake level itself.
My brother was over at Wahweap last weekend and the weekend before (working on his houseboat) and he said that they were working on the Castle Rock Cut digging it down to help make it a permanent thing... at least with the water level close to where it's at now... I have a Powell trip planned on Memorial Day week and and hoping that they have that thing cut down so that we can go through by then...
