    Proppeller Hell

Gorgeous day on Saguaro Lake in Phoenix, trailering from Tucson, my buddy hit a rock and taco'd the prop while I was parking the truck...Not a single run for my 5 hour round trip...a spare will be part of my equipment from now on!

Anybody have experience with what the dealer will charge (when they open after New Years) for a new Acme 537 prop?

Cheapest online I'm finding is $478.00 whehh... In addition to getting it rebuilt, does anyone favor any non-OEM props and have experience with them? I'm riding a 22V.

    Thanks all, Hyte

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

5 hours of driving for nothing, ouch!

$400 would be a good deal on a propeller. But the dealer has you by the nuggets right now, so don't expect less than $500.

Most recommend acme and don't stray from it.

Don't forget to ask the dealer if they might have a spare used prop. You need a spare anyway, so might as well pick up the spare now, and then get your bent prop fixed and continue to use it as a primary. I would send it to ACME to get it fixed. If it ain't perfect the vibration will be irritating. They would seem to have the most experience.

    My .02.
    Be excellent to one another.

Sorry to hear about your bad day. There is no substitute for the ACME prop. Depending on how you use the boat i.e: heavy ballast, foot'n, all surfing, etc. there may be a model that will give you improved performance for your application, but stay with ACME.

If you have not contacted Tigeowners member SPBfan he sells ACME props and is at or justs under $400 or at leats that was range that I bout sparre prop for.

Make sure you get a prop puller and a either a scoket wrench or open end wrench to fit ptop nut. I bought the ACme case to hold the prop in because the thing is sharp as hell.

Sorry about your mishap. If needed I am sure SPBfan could have prop and equipment to change it to you and drop shipped to your location

          Good Luck

I have my original Cutter stainless prop for sale that would make a good spare. Not the pitch they use now, but a great weekend saver none the less for less money than a new acme. We used it for a few years so I know it works to wakeboard. Let me know if you are interested. I know how you feel on the wasted weekend.

                Hyte,
I have a 537 that I don't need. I switched to a ACME 1465(14.25 pitch vs. 16 on the 537) and was keeping the 537 as a spare. I'm selling my boat this year so have no need for a spare anymore. I live in Gilbert(burb of Phoenix) so I can ship or you can pick-up. The prop was on my boat a couple years before I swapped but is in perfect condition. If you haven't bought a new prop yet PM me and I'm sure we can work something out. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. So what do you guys think is a fair price for a used 537?

If I needed one I would probably would go $250- $300 for the used ACME 535. But I am cheap.
I paid I believe just under $400 for my spare537 in the spring of 08

LIke everyone has said give SPBFAN a PM. I got mine and the prop puller kit that keeps the spare prop and tools all nice and in a bag. It's a sweet set up and you know you will never be left high and dry for a weekend.

Good luck and hope it all works out.
