Dog, it looks like there are two pylons. Look in the first pic, you can see the pull from the middle. Is this an X14V? No tower, so likely not an "x." Nonetheless, I climbed around an X14v at a local dealer, and the center pylon in it was removeable. Stored under the seat. The concept of two pylons isn't bad. That rear one would be good for tubing.

$46k for a 22 footer. Based on some of the comments I am going to take an hour ride to Munson Marine near where I live to get a look at it just to satisfy some curiosity. It has some weird bling that does not make a boat perform but is worth a look to satisfy my interest. For about $5-$6k more you can get an ugly 07 RZ2 and for around $56 a nice Frost Pacific Blue 24VE from the local dealer. Since I am now in the ranks of many with time on my hands, I can do a lot of loooking.(Until my Jeep goes on empty a couple of times)

I was at the Orange Co. show and looked the boat over well. They try to compare it to the RZ2, What a joke. The only comparison is the 22ft. The side of the boat is super thin and it weights in at 500 lb. less than the Tige (less glass). Malibu sells it but no place on the brochure or boat does it say Malibu, they even put it on a cheap trailer. The window has cheap plastic supports, the tower is ugly and would be a joke to fold down. The seats kept falling of and tipping over and we were on solid ground, the side vents were not metal they are plastic. Also the vinyl is light weight.
If this boat is still being manufactured a year from now I'll be supprised.
The Malibu sales person said they have been selling great but this was the same boat that was at the LA show and they were quick to heavily discount the price.
I guess if you own a Delorean you might want one then you could have the car and boat that sank.

One of the things that strikes me as weird is the hull design. With the picklefork front ends the hulls remind me of hulls you used to see on deck boats and boats from the past that were called tri-hulls or cathedral hulls. Since I have not seen an RZ2 or RZ4 when on plane is just the center hull in contact with the water at 20+ mph. I ask because we used to have a cathedral hull SeaRay and it was great for space and stability but in rough water the outer edges of the hull pounded you to death.
I am sure that isn't the case in the new designs but in rough water I wonder if the outer edges of the hull are in the water. It is more pronounced in this boat than in Tige's.
We don't see pickle forks where we typically boat so I am just interested and not criticizing. I am sure the designs are a far cry above what I had in the Sea Ray

BTW - it wasn't too long ago that Tige had light weight vinyl, cheap plastic, ugly towers that don't fold down properly and Tige is still around.Last edited by turbonine; 04-09-2009, 06:20 PM.

For the question about the front of the picklefork. Tige designed its front based on style and to give more room. It has no functional advantage when it comes to the wake since both the RZ and the Ve share pretty much the same running surface. That is why they use the Ve at the Pro Am and the Pro Team riders have them. If you put enough weight like they run in an RZ then the pickle fork starts hitting the water and messes up the wake since it was no designed to run low, like for instance an x star or these axis boats.WAKE ZONE
