it is kinda of ironic that a bunch of Tige owners have spent (8 pages) so much time knocking the Axis when we complain that others knock Tige boats. There are a lot of bright people on this board and I would much rather hear what they have to say about Tige than a boat they dont own and have not seen in person. We are the first to scream when people complain about Tige on WW or other boards so I would assume we would hold ourselves to a higher standard. Just a thought.

I agree and would probably do the same but I see so much Tige bashing that I vowed not bash another brand. I am not big on salesmen selling their brand by bashing the competion rather than selling the merits of thier product. If someone had taken a ride on one etc... I would totally understand the opinion. I understand also that Tige ownership pride will sometimes cause others to voice negative opinions about the competition. While I have certain reservations about Tige and some of their policies, I think it is a good to great boat at a decent price. Nothing is gained by bashing another brand. Its like the NFL defensive tackle that does a dance after a QB sack when his team is down by 30 points in the 4th qtr. I just dont get it but I understand there is not a ton of stuff happening in January.

Good points Band! I can't wait to see one. I'll ride behind it anytime.
I don't want to read the 8 pages again, but I don't think anyone was too hard on it though?

I didn't take much of this as "bashing" so much as curious conjecture. We all have opinions on aesthetics--regardless of the brand. They can't make everybody happy no matter how they design the boats.
My boat show starts this weekend so I am reallly curious to see this thing in person. So far I'm thinking it's pretty damn ugly...maybe different in person. That being said, I would still buy an ugly boat if it met all of my other criteria and I thought it was the rightboat for me.....I'd switch that tower though!!!!!!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

What he said ^^. While the boat does not really appeal to me (tower and windshield mostly), I am curious to see one in person. In my opinion, a buyer would do FAR better in the used Tige, Bu, Supra or MC market these days. Dollar for dollar, I would much rather own a used, low hr, top tier boat than a new (and unproven) lower market boat. Just my

                    Houston Boat Show

I got to see the Axis up close and personal last week at the Houston Boat Show... It is definitely an entry level boat that is very "rough around the edges". It is definitely a riders boat with lots of ballast room but is major lacking in all comfort areas. Of course this is what the intention is of the boat and it's price point. Not very good looking either, but might make a good first time boat for some young guys....

Probably hitting the Milwaukee show since Tige is not represented in Chicago. I also don't like the # of people at the Chicago show. Unless you are there during the week forget about getting aboard any of the cruisers or go-fasts. I would REALLY like to see some of the cruisers (since that's likely my next boat in a few years) so I may change my mind....

While looking for my current boat I heard RAVE reviews of Malibu's quality. I went to the dealer and checked them out. The only ones they had were the V-Rides. I knew nothing of their line-up so to be fair I DID (unknowingly) look at their "low end" boat. I was totally and completely unimpressed in anyway at all. The material looked snaggly, the finish was poor, the carpet was not finished neatly in a couple spots, not good at all. That, and they wanted a small fortune for it. The moral of that is if Malibu wants to sell those boats to anybody except the "poorest" (bad choice of words, I know) of the buyers they had better do significant improvements beyond what I've seen in the V-Rides. I would NEVER buy a V-Ride.

To be fair to Bu, the rest of their line is head and shoulders over anything else I've personally seen. If I had a magic purse I would buy a VLX in one second; I love those boats. Actually, my wife tried to talk me into a VTX at the boat show last year. I had planned on getting a Tige tattoo on my back so I thought I should stick with the brand

unfortunately, I probably won't make it this year. I went last year during the week, and it was still packed. wasn't sure I'd make it back alive after I walked from the Sears Tower area down to McCormick Place. Apparently that isn't the greatest neighborhood...

I am going to the Austin show this weekend, hopefully they will have an Axis and a bunch of other cool boats to checkout. I will let you all know my thoughts. Based on the pics I am not crazy about it, but I appreciate a lower priced boat that throws a good wake. Really looking forward to standing in a 2009 Tige with the new tower. Absolutely no chance of buying a new boat, just going to torture myself...

I would say that this forum is a little different, although I see your point. The audience here is primarily Tige owners and we sort of know where we are coming from. If I were talking on Malibucrew.com, I would call the tower 'not very aesthetically pleasing' or something like that and be more careful in my wording. I don't want to just piss people off who might own the boat. Whereas the threads on WW I complain of are little weenies who just bash a boat without any knowledge, or any interest in learning the merits of any boat/idea/concept different from what they currently beleive. They also don't care to be open enough that they might change their current thought process.

The honest purpose of this kind of forum is the exchange of ideas. Some of those ideas are negative, and some are positive. I think the Axis windshield and tower are ugly, for example. I am not sure that is a problem to share it in those terms with this audience. I did not like the dark vinyl in my Tige and the tower in my MC is too low. Not bashing, but sharing ideas on an equal opportunity basis.
                              Be excellent to one another.

Did not even realize the show was this week. I might have to check it out (if I get my body temperature back up before venturing out in this weather again) and look at something that should be sitting in my garage if I could sell this damn condo!
