You can actually zoom into my lake on google earth and they took a picture of us wakeboarding with our old bayliner. You can just make it out. 99% sure it is us. I zoomed in on our cabin and the boat is not at the dock and the slider is out front of the dock as well. If our boat is not at the dock, then it is on the lake. There was only one boat on the lake that I could see.

The first pic is the Northern end of the lake, beyond here is mostly river and can get shallow and hazardous. You will also see where the Southfork River comes in. Whenever I fly into Charlotte, I watch those lakes closely for wakeboarders. I've never seen much boat traffic at all. I'm usually flying during weekdays though.

I also fly to Charlotte often and rarely have seen any traffic on the water in the summer. Usually I fly out around 7-7:30pm. I don't expect to see anything when I fly in because I usually come in on last flight form Ohara.

These are the Lakes I grew up on and that my dad still lives by. My kids also have spent many hours on these lakes.

The small lake to the north is Lake Syracuse and the larger of the lakes is Lake Wawasee. They are connected by a mile long channel that you have to lower your towers so you can navigate under a railroad bridge and a local road bridge to go from Syracuse to Wawasee.

Syracuse is calm on the North , East and West shores during the week and early mornings and late afternoon on weekends. Wawaee is the larger lake and is good to drop anchor on one of two sandbars to kick back, play some water volleyball or just swim. On a typical July Saturday one of the sandbars will have at least 75 or more boats on it. They are just under 3 hours from Chicago and the lakefronts are all built up now. They are about 35-40 minutes from Elkhart,In to the Southeast in Amish Country. Rinker boats are built there and many RV companies are in the area. The economy is really hurting the non-farming families with nil for RV sales and similar issues for Rinker and two aluminum fishing boat companies.

We used to have a summer home(Mobile Home) in Marineland Gardens that we used for 10 years until the folks retired out there. On the SouthWest Side of Wawasee is a park and 50 yards off the shore is where the sandy bottom sand bar is. Both lakes are underground stream fed with crystal clear water that on a weekday you can see bottom.

Because the lakefront is built up there is only a single public launch on each of the lakes and 1 public dock on each of the lakes. You either load up the boat on the trailer and head 1/4 mile into town for fuel or lower the tower and get fuel in at Main Channel Marina. Most of the major inboards are sold in this area with MC being dominant and Tige just starting out in the last couple of years. You will see numerous woodies in the annual boat armada every year that runs the shoreline of wawasee. Both Lakes will eat a prop if you venture in too close to shore but those areas are easy to spot.

There are other lakes nearby so even though this is in the middle of Amish farm country you will see a lot of boating activity here. A lot of the shots for Barts and some boat magazines are shot on Wawasee.

That lake isn't that small but they do allow too many boats on it at one time. The last time I was at BV, it had to be 20 years ago.

Here's a satellite view of my home lake (Lake Buchanan), where I have a weekend house. Although we do spend a fair amount of time on Lake Austin because it's constant level and it's close to where I live.

I'll provide more details on the lake's features, but overall it's 23K acres. The main body of the lake is 8 miles long and 3-4 miles across at the widest part. It's a man-made lake with one of the longest dams in the US, which was built in the 30's (it's over 2 miles long). Including the navigable river sections, it's 32 miles from dam to where it gets to shallow to continue. There are lots of cool features including sandy islands open to everyone and multiple sets of waterfalls. In the winter, the Bald Eagle nests in the river valley, which is where the area's name came from, Canyon of the Eagles. It's never very crowded and we sometimes have a restaurant open on the lake. It's great for fishing year round, although I fish mostly in the winter months.

That just is not right. Perfect water when you want it. Here is our lakes. the INT comp finals was held there this year. However in order to use these lakes you have to buy a house there. Spend 1500 per year in lake fees and some other things. they are nice lakes though.

I am sure it is. I loved it when I came in October and the water was 75 or close to that in Orlando. But you do have to watch out for the Aligators
