With all the innovations on all the different brands what would be your must have item. What would you think about the boat manufactures offering different packages , that would give you a discount if you bought the options in a package as aposed to individually. Example, family package: windscreen, bimini, table ,heater. Extreem sport package: tower, swivel racks , tower of power with 4 speakers, stereo remote, ballast, 6.0l engine, bimini, tower lights, agressive graphics. Salt Water package: sea strainer, flush unit, heat exchanger, salt water steer and struts, anode protection.

    Cruise Control
    Better Fuel Gauge
Maintenance deal (ex: 3 years or 150 boat hours of free service)

However, I only got one of the three listed above.

I have been driving boats, skiing, etc. since I was like 10... Inboards are awesome for performance, but can't someone figure out a way to enable control while backing? Big boats have thrusters built in, maybe we just need some bow thrusters??

And since it's a bad economy, and there are plenty of older boats out there, why not offer cost effective add-on/upgrade packages?

Two rudders solves the backing problem. ie: Epic's 23V

            Hello Dom!

This is another great topic. In my opinion only, I think boat manufacturers would be better off keeping options & features very flexible and priced a little more aggressively. Feature choices fit the personality of the buyer and we all know how different everyone is.

I know they have to produce boats with some STD features based on locations and past sales numbers with said packages, but I personally think packaging them in the long run limits them as well unless there has been a ton on market research done to come up w/ the most popular items to be bundled together.

Bundling of packages is one of the things I dislike about the automobile industry. Sometimes they come out w/ some really cool ideas or options but the only way you can get them is part of a package with a bunch of other over priced items that my be cool but are not usually very practical.

I understand their logic by adding in a bunch of items you make pure profit on to the cool new thing that everyone wants but I think it also abnormally inflates the price. This in turn hurts the resale value by having a ton of extra items that no one really needs or is willing to pay for in a used vehicle or boat.

I agree that you need packages of features with discounts to have boats on the floor that will attract a wide potential customer base but then having the ability to add or even take away some features with out breaking the bank will attract even more customers. (Much in the same way we purchased our boat from you)

All this being said I am certainly glad I am not the person trying to figure out what the next hot thing is or how long it will last. I think the whole idea of being able to customize graphics with wraps is great but how long before we all turn against that and think it is overdone or worn out?

I have to agree with you you would think by now they could desigh a fuel sender that could withstand impact and water.

I got 2seasons (150hrs) on mine, working great. 3rd time is the charm I guess.

Better idle speed handling. Both in forward and reverse. Tired of hand walking boat thru narrow railroad bridge that runs above a channel that connects two lakes in Northern Indiana.

A horn that actually makes noise straight from the factory.

A Tower/Multi sport package that includes docking lights fore and aft with multi functional board racks that could be adjusted to hold either wake board, Surfboard or slalom vs completely different racks and a sightly taller pylon on V drives that mounted to the stringers.

Trim Packages that allow for simpler graphics of old and regular rub rail with stainless cup holders and other options along those lines.

Sport Package to provide dual buckets and rear bench storage of some kind.

I like the old boat upgrade packages idea. Maybe that's because I have an older boat.

How about an autoadjust for the ballast tanks that automatically transfers water if someone moves in the boat. Wake will fix its self with auto leveler
If its not fun, Why do it?

Ill agree with the horn idea. My nautique now has a horn that sounds like it came straight out of a truck. They should have a riders package (Team) that comes with a different prop not necessarily the 6.0 because I dont think you need and things that riders would want.

I still think you can do a better stereo yourself for less money that any of the manufacturers charge.
