    Mercruiser Parts

On my October trip down to Powell I had my fuel pump go out on my 2001 21i. I took it to my local Tige Dealership on 10-14 and told them the symptoms and that I thought it was the fuel pump. It took until the end of November for the dealership to confirm that it was the fuel pump because they had to take it to another dealership that had diagnostics for a Mercruiser. It has now been 3 weeks since the dealership ordered the fuel pump and it still hasn't come in. Should I be concerned that it has taken this long to have my boat looked at and get the part?? Also, my boat is currently being stored outdoors in Colorado winter weather which bums me out

I ordered some mercruiser parts and got them in two days.I would assume a dealer could get them at least as fast as me.

I'm in Denver today and wouldn't want my boat sitting out in the weather around here. Snow yesterday and bloody cold today. Hope they drained the water out of the cooling system or you may have them getting you an engine as well.

You can get a pump from here in very short order: Mercruiser Parts

The pump for that is going to be expensive, as you have to order a new fuel cooler too. I had mine in like 3 days this summer. It's also an easy part to replace.

Should be able to replace just the pump.

That is crazy. That is a item you can order from most boat suppliers and have it same or next day.

maybe by 01 it's another generation of motor. for me, I had to get the fuel cooler too. Something in regards to the EPA.

Yeah they said it needs the fuel cooler, I think the biggest reason it needs the cooler is to eliminate the vapor locking problem they have experienced with these motors.

3 weeks sounds like somebody forgot to order it....I'd start asking questions daily.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

If this is the engine I think it is this is the OE manufacture part for it. It is a pretty common part to fail. It is the pump and cooler they are not sold separately. There is a few options for this but so far all the TIGE' boats have been this unit. They are very easy to come by. OE part number 861156A03.

That was the part number on mine. I put the new cooler on even though the other seemed to be fine. If i were you, i'd go pick up the boat and do it yourself. I know I had mine done within a couple hours.

I wouldn't change the cooler unless it leaked gas into the water.Other than that a new cooler won't improve anything. If they didn't sell the pump seperate I would install one of the other ten manufactures model of that pump like the holly one for $159.Its the same pump body used in chevy cars and truck and racecars.Summit has the best price.

I called the non-tige dealership today to find out the part number they ordered and the guy who owns the dealership was very rude. He first started saying that it's hard for him to get any work done when I'm calling him once a week asking when its going to be done and he went on to say if I don't want him to do the work on the boat to just come down right away and pick up the boat and he would only charge me diagnostic costs. He finally calmed down and gave me the part number 861156A02. I'm not sure what I'm going to do because he says the parts will be in the middle of the month but I've been told another week for the last month!!
