    after market covers

I need a new mooring cover for my 97 2150 WT. the original canvas one leaks. What's the best material (i'm not doing canvas again) and where's the best source online?

I had a debate between the Polyester and Sunbrella cover materials. I decided the Sunbrella was better. The cheapest I found was from Ameri-Brand Products. They get theirs made from Carver just like a lot of the other companies. Also I had a great experience with their customer service...they did a bunch of research to make sure the cover would fit, calling me daily to let me know whats going on.

Also I think Overtons is having a sale. If you get a sharkskin I would definitely recommend having a vent or two installed.

I highly recommend Westland covers. It's a very light, very durable cover and is the stock cover for the newer Tiges. They should have standard covers for your boat model, but if you have a custom tower, I'd order the cover for your boat without the tower cut-outs and have a local canvas shop add them for your boat. I went to a sail shop and they did it for me. It worked out great.

Thanks for the Idea regarding the tower cut outs.

          Thanks for the tips.

Unfortunately, I have contacted EVERY cover mfgr I can find, and NOONE has the Pre 2150 WT custom cover pattern. they have every other model imaginable (PRE 2050, 2150, etc), but not the PRE 2150 WT. AND, if you order a custom cover, that's it, no returns if it doesn't fit. So, it looks like a custom cover fabricated from pattern of existing cover at a local shop, with Sunbrella material.

          Thanks again.

Hi - I'm also debating getting a cover. As you may guess, I live in rainy Seattle and the boat will be outside. We have a nice custom cover but I was thinking the boat (and cover) will winter better if I buy a larger loose fitting cover to cover everything. Perhaps something like this: http://www.boatgearstore.com/v-hull-...productid=1200

Waste of money? Will a big plastic cover increase mildew? Thanks for your thoughts.

What's the difference between the PRE 2150 ahd PRE 2150 WT?

There is no difference between the PRE 2150 and PRE 2150 WT. They only made one 2150 for only one year, 1997. In 1998 they changed the name to 22i or 2200i.

If they have a pattern for a 2150, it should be the one you need.

                  Thanks Mike.
Do you know what "PRE" designates?

And how about this? I contacted Tige and they have covers for my boat in stock!

The covers Tige has are Sharkskin. By the "vents" comment, I'm assuming they don't breathe at all. Any comments on sharkskin?

I dont care how well a material "breathes" it will benefit from a vent. The can be ordered aftermarket and installed easily

They are essentially Westland covers (per my dealer). Not sure if you save money going direct or via Overtons.

                            Scott,

glad they had one at Tigé. How much is it compared to some of these other sites posted?

Here is a cool archive website for Tigé, back in the day. It's pretty cool. All the links work. Check out the models and specifications.

                              Mike,

The sharskin purchased from Tige was under 350, with tax and shipping. I didn't shop sharkskin from other sources, so don't know their cost, but all of the sunbrella covers were 600 or so ...
