I would definitely get a perko flush-pro to install, or have it installed. It's not a bad diy. I would also go for a sea strainer with the spin-off see-thru filter bowl. It does a good job of keeping the seagrass out of my cooling system. As far as closed loop cooling goes, that one's up to you. I personally do not like it cause the parts that are going to wear out quickest are still going to have saltwater run through them as part of the water that goes through the heat exchanger. I take the keep it simple route when it comes to boats used in salt water. Everyone seems to have their own opinion about closed loop and legitimate reasons for or against it. My dealer, FIC, can give you install tips on the flush-pro and strainer. Here is a link to a post of some pics I posted a while ago. The last thing to think about is the trailer, a painted steel trailer will probably last about 2 years with regular use. I am currently shopping for an aluminum trailer to replace my steel trailer that cam with the boat when I bought it in June 2006. I rinse the trailer religiously and am honestly surprised I got 2 years out of her, but I feel it is deteriorating faster every time we take the boat out. Time for a new one. Shoot me or FIC a pm if you have any specific questions.
Post #6 and #10 have specific info on my flush-pro and seastrainer, and a pic.
