08 Escalade for 57450 is a good deal...trust me. An 08/09 escalade should get 11-13 mpg towing and shouldn't do anyworse than 10ish. If you really need the extra room get an ESV. The 09 suburban is getting a 6spd and you can get a 356 hp 6 liter but it just won't have the power of the escalade.

I just researched in my area a 2008 Suburban 1500 LT with 1LZ package that has an MSRP of $55095 and has a no haggle price of $41,616. It has a 5.3L 4x4. Mileage is 14/19. I am not an expert between an Escalade and a loaded Suburban but $16 is a lot of margin. Supposed Invoice on this vehicle is just over $50K. Your choice and preferences is what matters so this is just my worth.
For reference my 5.3L Tahoe easily handles a 24VE and a MC Maristar 23' in the flatlands of Illinois and the hilly Ozark country of southern Missouri and Arkansas easily. The 24VE was towed locally but the AMristar was hauled to Bullshoals. It does not really feel My 20V except on long grades but I am sure it or the Suburban will handle the weight diff between the 20V and a 24VE. Big SUV's sell real cheap still.
True to form the Tahoe and Suburban are gas hogs. Our Tahoe averages 16 around town, 20 on highway not towing and 11 mpg towing the 20V.

As for the price, it's a buyers market. If you can wait till late December you should be able to buy one well under "dealer" invoice.

Here is my take on it I may be a little late to the game. The Escalde is basically a GMC 1500. First thing I did when we bought our boat was sale the 1500 since it would barley pull the boat. I bought a NISSAN TITAN Same a the ARAMADA. It pulled it amazingly well. I used that for two and a half years. Then it was time for a new company truck. I looked at the General Motors line up again. It still sucked. so I went and bought a TOYOTA TUNDRA for half the price of the GM line up offerings. It pulls better than the TITAN did and I average 275 miles on a 20 gallon tank when pulling the boat on the freeway. My boat is a 24V loaded with all the gear when on the road for a weekend trip. Stay with the Nissan or Toyota if you want to get something for the right price that will out pull the GMC matching class truck any day.www.automarinecare.com CWB, ACME, FlyHigh, Merc Marine, PCM, Marine-power, WETSOUNDS, HSE Volume Controls, Kicker, Sony, Samson Sports, and many other marine parts or accessory's.
