    RZ2 height on trailer

    RZ2 folks,

What is the height of your boat on the trailer WITH the tower folded down? I have the Z-series tower and an EZloader trailer. I'm trying to figure out if it will fit under the doorway of a 7 foot garage.

    Thanks,

    Todd

Do you have the Illusion EZLoader tailer with the 20" wheels? If so, it won't fit under a 7' door.

Oh no, here we go again.

Seriously, you need a 8' garage to store any kind of Tige. Inboards are too tall for 7' doors because they have to sit so high up on the trailers.

I do have the EZloader Illusion with 20i inch wheels. How much too tall is it? I know the 20V on the standard EZLoader was a couple of inches short, so it would have fit. Also, I will be going up and incline into the garage. I didn't do particularly well in geometry, but it seems like going into the garage at that angle might allow enough clearance. True? or am I still not a geometry wiz?

The Z tower is not very easy to collapse, but if you are talking about winter storage, where you are not doing it every time you take it out, then that would be OK.
          Be excellent to one another.

That would likely be the case. Especially if it is a pain to put up or down.

It's probably 7'6" or more with the tower collapsed on the Illusion trailer.

Dogbert is right. With a standard dimension trailer and a tower a Tige will not make ti thru a 7' door unless the garage is modified or the trailer is altered.

I have an 07 20V with a E series tower and with the stock height of the trailer the tower would not clear the door opening which is 82.5". The pivot point for the tower was above the windshield and was too high and would not clear the opening. This was with 14" rims.

In order to address this we had the trailer customized to drop the bunks 3 inches which gave the boat the needed clearances away from the trailer frame and enough clearance for prop and rudder. The manufacturer was Trail-master/Vanguard out of Mishiwauka,IN. They sell thru dealer channels. I also needed a 4-6" drop down hitch to lower the tongue.

                http://www.trailmastertrailers.com/b...r_features.php.

It is a nice Tandem axle which trails well but only has single axle disk brakes. To drop the bunks 3" cost $500. Lowering the bunks did not seem to affect trailering and we made 3 1500 mike round trips to Bullshoals/ Tablerock , Our only issue is we blew a Carlyle Tire which once I reported it to Carlyle the replaced it with a new rim under warranty.

With the lower bunks you have to compensate in how deep you put the trailer when loading but other than that I am happy with the results. Getting in and out of the boat when on the trailer is a tad easier for short people.

Unfortunately I destroyed my Tige e-series tower in mid September and get to find out this weekend if the boat will make it in garage with the Sampson Razor replacement I put on the boat. The E-Series worked well but rattled like heck and was a pain to put up and take down for 1 person and just 1 set of speakers on the tower.

The Geometry raises the boat on the way in.
                Good Luck

                  Exactly with a DHM trailer.

Just try it. See if it fits. Back it up and see where your at with the help of a spotter or two. Then you'll know for sure.

You can also deflate the tires quite a bit to lower it an inch or two if you are close--if you're just using it for winter storage it won't be that big of a deal to mess with the air pressure. If you did it every time you used it......PITA.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I can tell you right now that it won't since I have the same setup.

I think MoneyPity ran into something with his tower and is getting a new tower. You could ram your tower into the garage door and then then rebuild with a 8' door and a new tower of your choice.
If its not fun, Why do it?

There's an idea! I'll just get insurance to pay for it!

I ran into a low carport when my dad was at a nursing home. The E Series tower did not clear and bent the horizontal bars to heck. The tower was too tall by about 6-8 inches.

The replacement of the E-Series is done and I went with a Samson Razor. although I have been told it will fit in a 7' door opening by Samson I don't know yet. I will pickup up today and finding out when I back it up my drive.

Some of you may remember the E-Series would not clear the slightly less than 7' door so we modified the trailer by dropping the bunks lower by 3 inches which put the gunwale height 60 inches from the floor which would allow the tower to stick up 22 inches at the rear axles and more by the bow due to the angle of my drive and drop down hitch. This is with stock 14 inch wheels. NO Chance with 20" wheels

It should clear at the windshield pivot but might have issues where it folds based on the way the billets work.

Insurance covered the cost of the tower and the install which took my dealer 2 days to assemble, put and mount on boat and correct and hook up wiring for Speakers, Aft light and front and rear halogen setup.

If I were to do it again, I would either make a long haul to Samson like ragboy did or find dealer in the Midwest who has dealt with them.

The Samson Razor on my 20V with the modified trailer made it through the 82.5" opening with an inch to spare. On stock trailer would not have fit. From what I have been told the Razor sits lower than either the e or z series.

Thank goodness for good insurance.$500 is a cheap price to pay for no more bimini rattles and fighting those yellow powedercoated billets. The Razor is a tad easier to put up.
