I agree with the above posts. I had a budget of 7k (spent 8k on the boat plus 2k on gear). All the boats I was looking at were right in the same ball park as the 2000 slm comp (flat bottom, direct drive, wood, wood, and more wood).

It sounds like you have a much higher budget than mine was. With the later models TIGE began to cater more towards the family boating vs just strictly a skiing machine. So you are going to have a better ride on the water, be able to fit more gear, people comfortabley, and adjust your wake for any ski/wakeboarder.

With the economy you may also want to check a repo yard, you may be able to find a nice boat at a great price.

Don't sell the flat bottom short on wakesurfing. While not the biggest wake in the world, it will produce one of the better shapes. I've surfed mine for years, and in those years, I've been behind some big fancy new V-drives that had bigger wakes but, horrible shape. My old flat bottom D-drive is like a breath of fresh air when I come back to it.

Don't sell wood short either. If properly maintained, it will last a life time and then some.

      Go drive it for yourself.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

If your looking for a boat to do these things then pass on this boat.

btw, this boat looks to be a '96 2002 fslm, not a '97 which would be a pre2150 if i remember correctly. The fslm's had the vents in the rear as shown, the pre's did not nad had a rolled transom lip.

        Razz,

Not trying to start a fight but my friend has this exact same tige and he put 400 lbs in the back and 300 up front and with 5 people it has a very nicely shaped wakeboard wake. It's not big, it comes up just below my knee. It is also a narrow boat so a narrow wake. I could land easily into the flats.

        AJ,

this boat will not be great, but to begin and use for a few years it will be nice. The other thing about this boat is when your in chop IT SUCKS!! It's very rough and does not handle well in rough water. That being said when it's glass this boat is amazing. All things to consider.

          stringing system
          Vinyl/stitching
          wooden vs glass floor
          swimstep
          to name a few

If you still want versatility across all sports (surfing, wakeboarding, and skiing) and want a direct drive, look at a 21i or a 22i. There are a couple in the accessories thread for reference.
not sure he can afford that new of a boat. I have the 03 and it's a great boat. Nice ski, nice board and nice surf.

Yup, It's actually a great starter boat for a year or two to cut your teeth on and see if it'd for you without breaking the bank.

                        RAZZ,

I didn't know you converted to the dark side and sold your tige. Guess that's what happens when I spend 5 months MIA.

Razzman - what did you do to make the wake better on your boat. I was going to get a sac seat for the rear not sure either the 650 lbs or the 370 lbs. What did you do for the front, space seems so limited?

Sorry Dom, just got back in office. Not only did i go over to the dark side, i changed careers as well!

                            Long story but the short version is;

                            Guy wanted my boat bad
Gave me more than it was worth
Couldn't find a Tigé Vdrive within budget
Was made a killer deal on the LSV
                            Wife liked it
                            39,600 otd
                            1950 lbs of ballast!
Killer freaking wakes & surf wave!
                            end of short story!

Joe, you can load the back with peeps or add sacs. You can add a sofa sac in the back and dual 400's along the dog house. But i wouldn't add anything to the nose, it's already low enough as it is. Take water over the nose once and you'll see what i mean!

Remember your capacity is only 800lbs of peeps if i remember right and adding 1200 of ballast and then peeps is goiny to sit you low, real low! I actually took water over the gunwales a couple times and it's not fun!

                                Hi all from the UK!

Well done for having such a great Forum! I hope you don't mind me butting in - I couldn't help but read this thread as I'm in the process of decided whether to buy a Tige 2000 SLM (one of the very few over here in blighty) or a Nautique. I'll be Skiing mainly, perhaps a little light boarding with beginners on Inland and a little in Poole harbour (Very Sheltered salt). I kinda really like the tige, it's a far better thought out boat, and has lasted very well since 1993 - but the hull looks to give a hard ride - just as is said in your posts. Is it many times worse than other Tournament ski boats - only ok in glassy water?

                                Any advice greatly appreciated!

                                Thanks!
