    AJ,
Let us know what your looking for in a boat, how you see yourself and family using the boat, and also a price range. Then all of us can help cater you towards the boat that will fit you best.

I am looking for a good all around boat. Mainly wakeboarding or just cruising the river. It will be my first boat and I don't need anything fancy, that is why I thought this would be a good boat to start with at a good price. Now I don't know because it doesn't sound like it will be very good for wakeboarding. Keep in mind I am just a biginner wakeboarder and don't need giant wakes, but I would like to try surfing.

Can you get it under $20000. Probably not but I had to ask. I can't spend too much I am saving for a house.

Just wondering why I get so many conflicting answers. I understand it would not have the greatest wake. I just want a decent one.

Once you start yourself down the path of wakeboating you will always want more. More boat, more wake, more power, more new. Someone will always have a nicer one no matter what you do. That first ride in your boat though, one of the best feelings in the world man. It sounds like you've got your expectations in the right place. Just go drive it and see how it feels.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

The 2000 was built for one thing, the slalom skier. It has no openbow, minimal seating, space and comes with minimal electronics. Its goal was to pull a skier through a course with the smallest wake possible.Much like boats are judged now by how large the wake, during that boats time it was judged on how little a wake it made. You can add weight and the wake will become a little bigger but its design is a handicap for wakeboarding.
If I where you I would save a little and get what you really want the first time.If you look around there are lots of nice v drives for around twenty.

This must not be a 2000 it does have an open bow, I guess it is hard to see in the pics but it is an open bow. Does this change anything?

Im not sure,it depends on what hull it has.

ajholt7, that boat is NOT a 2000slm. It's either a 2002fslm or a pre2002 depending on what year the name change occured. Either way it's the same hull as the 2000slm comp and is a slalom boat, period. It will not produce a wake worth a crap unless you weight the boat. You cannot get a decent surf wake, period. If your looking for a boat to do these things then pass on this boat.

btw, this boat looks to be a '96 2002 fslm, not a '97 which would be a pre2150 if i remember correctly. The fslm's had the vents in the rear as shown, the pre's did not nad had a rolled transom lip.
"Call me anything you want ... Just don't call me NOBODY!

X2! or a little less now a days. If going with a Tige and budget is tight, look for a used 04 and later (preferrably 05 and up) as I understand it for several reasons:

                                stringing system
                                Vinyl/stitching
                                wooden vs glass floor
                                swimstep
                                to name a few

If you still want versatility across all sports (surfing, wakeboarding, and skiing) and want a direct drive, look at a 21i or a 22i. There are a couple in the accessories thread for reference.
