Gator grip on the sides? Inside the boat or outside the boat? Where's the carpet...inside or outside?

Has anyone ever thought about just pulling the carpet up and spraying in a white or w/e color your gelcoat is, bedliner?

This way you'd have textured non-slip surface and could put in a snap in carpet!

it's on the gun wall. My carpet is inside my boat and is just fine.

I have the same thing. I'm gonna add some more...just about broke my leg on my gunwhales after using Babe's Boat Bright...that is some slick sh**.

I would think Gatorgrip inside your boat would be harder to clean after a while. I have it in a couple of spots and it seems like stuff gets into the nooks and crannies all the time. Seems like it would look not so good after while.

Thought about it, but it is pretty rough and I like the cushiness of the carpet so one of the foam/vinyl replacements is more attractive to me. I might paint the inside of the storage compartments with the bedliner material, I believe Chpthril did this already. That is the only place my carpet has some funk to it, I've started pulling all the lifejackets out if they have gotten wet and been put back in a compartment damp, to keep things cleaner, but I don't like carpet in those compartments.

Mtn, I just meant to have it under a snap in carpet.... that way, on the days you wanted to pull out the carpet for whatever reason... you'd have a no slip surface.

I can't tell you how many times I've about busted my arse up in the bow when I pull out that mat!!!! LOL

About two years ago I was doing a search for marine carpet to help a friend recarpet his boat. I came across a company that makes the snap-out carpet. You make a pattern of your floor out of paper (they suggest you use butcher paper), mail it to them, and they make it, including the snaps. If this is really what you want, why not take out the carpet and cover the floor with bed-liner or some other material. Then have a snap-out carpet made to cover the bed-liner. Then when the carpet gets wet you pull it out, hose it off if needed and hang it out to dry. Also you hose out the boat and put the carpet back in when dry. If I remember right they charged around $600-700 to make it. The pictures looked like they do a real nice job- the edges were just like the piece in the front of our boats already. If I had to recarpet, I would do that instead.
