I was out last week in 52 degree water with no wet-suit. When the water temp gets down into the 40's thats when I pull the shorty out. Last Spring I was out in 36 degree water with only a shorty (It was stupid). Here is a pic from last Spring Skiing when half the lake was still frozen.

I guess the water has to be flat when there's ice all over it

I am gonna tease you midwest and east coats boarders-----I went out Saturday @ Lake Mead water 70deg and air @79 at 11 am. I am planning a Thanksgiving Day wakeboard outing! I anticipate water around 60 +/- 4 deg and the air should be 60-70! If anyone is in 'vegas for Turkey Day give me a yell I should have room for a couple of riders!

I with you Surfdad, rule of 100 (sometimes even 90) applies to us, unless the wind is blowing then it's miserable.

Looking for snow today here in UT and waiting for resorts to open. Although a few around the country are open now, but I never miss a chance to take the boat out for a winter ski or surf.

                from last winter

                  Kona:

bring your boards and come down to St. George anytime this winter. We don't get ice on our lakes.

Shoot, I can beat that, below 65 we don't ride, water is 68 now and definitely time for wetsuits...if we ride anyways. I have a heater on my boat too, which I still need to post some pics of. Now us floridians are the biggest wimps for sure.

What people don't realize is the air coming in from the ocean is a lot colder then you would think. It also go right through you. I used to have a dry suit for windsurfing in the winter time. As long as you are just sitting in the sun on the beach it is nice, but when you get in the water that all changes. That is why the northerns are the only ones in the ocean during the winter.
