Sorry to here that. Get well soon.

LP I know when we come to Utah we have to bring bottled water for my wife to drink. I don't know about the St George area but I know up around SLC she gets sick any time she drinks there water.

It has somthing to do with the way the treat the water or lack of treatment. I am not sure what it is though.

So yes it is not a joke don't drink the water in some locations. Especially Lake Mead you may grow muscles I mean mussels if you do.

A few quagga mussel larvae never hurt anyone...just extra protein!

Now, all the untreated storm drain runoff and the perchlorate (rocket fuel oxidizer) that comes from Las Vegas Wash...even though we are in it all the time, I am a little worried about that.

Why? Have you been drinking from your toilet bowl again, J?

Yes, I am trying to mimic the life of my cat... she has the life - but I definitely could leave that part out!

BUT This has nothing to do with me.

I can only imaging what sucking back some rocket fuel oxidizer is doing to the ole digestive system.

Well, they are installing systems to cutoff and treat the underground perchlorate plumes that have migrated into the Wash, so the level is dropping. And, they say that the levels are not dangerous out in Lake Mead. But I don't know if they actually have any scientific testing to determine what is a "dangerous" level or not.

Man the government says we are messing up our environment. I think it should be the other way around. They are messing up the environment and blaming the public for it. Nothing new though.

It's not just the government you should see the plume underneath AeroJet here in Sacramento County.

And the perchlorate plumes in LV are from companies, not government facilities. They may have been producing for government contracts, but they were private industry.

Sorry for the tangent. Back on topic - glad you are out of the hospital, Skyski!

OK, as long as we've veered this far here is some interesting video related to ammonium perchlorate. In Henderson, NV in 1988, a perchlorate plant exploded (see video below). So, not only did a couple of production facilities leach perchlorate into the ground for years, but the amount of water that was used to put out this fire is thought to have made the problem even worse (I think they were literally dousing the entire facility for several days, which dissolved many tons of perchlorate and soaked into the ground). This location was about one mile from my previous home (which wasn't built until 1999). The entire area is developed now, both commercial/industrial and residential. Fun stuff.

and, just in case I can't post it properly, here is the URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUPIDVMl8XM

um I hate to say this but the big storm, what's that called that blew through Texas? That's right Ike churned up all the water and sewars. The bays and lakes by seabrook are still closed due the fact they are big sest pools. Not sure what river you were on but that may have had a huge impact.

Trinity is 150 miles inland and flows from Dallas / Ft Worth to Lake Livingston(with dam) and then to the coast. That area did not get hard this time. It was probably more from the locals dumping the septic tanks. I know guys that ride up there every week and have not had any issues.
