It's good to see the rider was wearing a PFD and a helmet.

He should have also had on goggles to block the air soft pellets the "boat" was shooting at him.

Speaking of gators, do you really have to worry about them? Just thinking of the St. Johns river in FLA. I think I would be more worried about bull sharks then gators but I am not from the area.

                          Not really.

If no-one is feeding them, then their natural fear of people keeps them in check.

When they get 11+ ft they can begin to cause problems, but any gator deemed a threat or a nusiance is caught and either relocated or killed by FWC.

I have a couple in my lake which is about 400 acres. One large one about 9' and a small one about 2'. In the 6 months I've lived on this lake I've seen the big one 2 times and the little one 2 times.

I used to wakeboard in the Saint John's while I attended college at UCF, and that environment can be a little intimidating after sunset. LOTS of VERY large gators, whom feed on the local deer, boar, and occasionally a steer. You gain a bit a perspective when you witness an 18 ft gator swimming with a 900lb steer in it's mouth.
