Yes and we redistribute the bodies also, I think we are getting all there is to get. If this continues to be a problem that we can't live with, I think the only option is going to be a power upgrade or trade boats. I did talk to MP and they will work with me on this and take my 340 in trade which I thought was pretty nice. It remains to visit with tige and be sure that this would have no effect on warranty etc. MP did say that the 400 would work with the same tranny and vdrive they just weren't sure about the throttle by wire and all the rest,so we'll see and keep you posted.

What did your dealer do to correct your inaccurate Speedo? Did you recheck w/GPS after?
I had to keep after them a little bit as they were getting an education along with me, but all they had to do was calibrate it somehow electronically through the PCM. (I think) I finally took the boat back to them WITH the GPS and told them not to call me until the speedo matched the GPS. I have added a Lowrance GPS and fish finder ( or whatever you call it ) and the speedo now runs about +-.2 mph which is definitely acceptable. By the way the Lowrance gadget is the best thing since sliced bread it has 3,300 lakes in the US in memory and if you need one that isn't there you just go to the website and down load it. Has all the topos that are under water and you can find the potential trouble before you ever go to the lake. I feel like I've already been to Powell and Mead and haven't even left Texas yet, but I will one of these days. Didn't mean to run so long what was the original question???
PS: Don't let your dealer give you the crap about how boat speedos are not that accurate, my response was how in the H*&% do you set world records if there is no common denominator???

Do you have install pics? And what model did you go with? Some of those units are BIG!

        Thanks!

Yeah right...those GPS units show the lake full, I'd watch out if you were using one at Mead or Powell.

I'm not sure what kind of gps you're talking about but all you have to do is find out how low or full the lake is for that particular time and calculate from the known elevations on the screen, of which you have a full topography on screen.
You can either zoom in or out to get as detailed as you want for a specific area.
You also have " route tracking" so you can follow your route out coming back. If you didn't crash and burn going then your safe coming home, really great for after dark. We went out late one afternoon and laid out our route and then went surfing after dark with the lights and it was fantastic. However I definitely hear you on getting familiar with ANY new lake before hauling azz.

Forgive me if I am off on my opinion, (you all know I have one ), but are we talking about trying to gain 2-3mph on a towboat like Chp said? Are you barefooting......what's the hurry, how will 2-3mph make your life easier? I use one Fatsac in the back of my boat when we are boarding and it tops out at 42mph, with the bag empty its almost 45mph........other than doing it for my own curiosity do you know when I run that fast............?

NEVER.......it's a tournament ski-boat, not meant to do 50+...........unless your barefooting then you need a different boat

Who wakeboards or surfs (or skis for that matter) @42+? (Please tell me you're not wanting to barefoot )

Even if you barefoot you dont need to be going 42 anyway.

                    Say you are 180lbs. 180 / 10 + 15 = 33
                    Thats your minimal speed.

Like the others have said, if you want to get more speed just for the thrill of going fast you need another boat thats built for that.

What kind of boat do you have? I don't care anything about going 50 but 40 to 45 on demand would be nice. If it did what you say yours is doing we wouldn't be holding this conversation, but 39 and sometimes MAYBE 40 just seems a little harsh. As for needing a different boat I talked to my dealer and the factory prior to purchase and they ALL assured me that 43-45 mph loaded, would be no problem; so I hope you can understand my disappointment but thanks for the input.

Did you not run it wide open throttle when you demoed the boat?

Yes I did but since the speedometer wasn't registering accurately (32-34 was top end) we didn't really know what it was doing. With no reference it is hard for me to tell the difference between 39 or 42 mph. After about 5-6 weeks and two return trips to the dealer (during which I purchased my own gps unit and loaned to the dealer) they got the speedo calibrated. I guess all I am saying is if this might be an issue to anyone else out there considering an RZ 4, then definitely go with the 400 vs. the 340. Now don't get me wrong the 340 could pull a rhinoceros on a boat paddle or even me on a slalom ski, but you will not be doing anything over 40mph. Let me also say we love the RZ 4 and all the room and storage etc. As far as I'm concerned Tige builds absolutely the best boat in this size and class, I just wish it would do the other also.

How about taking the boat back to the dealer for one last twist on the "Calibration" and then throw the GPS in the lake? I'm sure they can get you to 42
