    wakeboarding helmet

I am asking for a wakeboarding helmet for Christmas this year, Can anyone give me any suggestions about what is good. I seen these names online, are any better then others. How do I determine what size I need?

Protec Ace Wake Helmet, Berns, Hyperlite

or what about one of these

    Thanks

1 vote for the Pro Tec Ace Wake!!! I love mine.

One word of caution, I would stay away from any helmet; 1. Without ear pads or 2. With a mini-brim on the front.

    1. The ear pads go a long way in preventing ruptured eardrums. My buddy was wearing his helmet when he crashed pretty badly but did not have ear pads in and he ended up rupturing his eardrum.

    2. The mini-brim on the front of the helmet looks cool but catches too much air and shoves the helmet back on your head.

Make sure whatever helmet you choose, you can try it on before you buy it. Protech did something to their XL's this year and now my big noggin does fit. They added extra foam or something...

I ruptured it at 12.2 mph. I don't want to start wearing my helmet when I surf too

To avoid ruptured ear drums when you face plant make sure you face hits the water square so you have no chance of water forced in to your ear....

What type of places have helmut that you can try on? We have Dicks & Sports Authority and I have seen helmuts there. I will ask the next time I am there now. Would there be some other type of stores other then the internet?
                  Thanks

Balair, that's the helmet my buddy has that catches the air and pushes it back on his head. He says it is uncomfortable.

I found mine at a ski shop (winter ski). Mine is a Smith that is good for all weather--for snowboarding and wakeboarding. I just never wear it wakeboarding......

I see how that could cause problems. I like the one parks wears that has a brim in the back. It looks pretty cool.
