    Another Depth sounder ?

My depth guage crapped the bed just before I left. Looking to order a new. I believe mine is an in-hull transducer. Can someone verify? 98 pre2100wt. Also, has anyone removed an in-hull transducer or should I just leave the old and put the new one next to it?
How can I be racist when all of my assault rifles are black?

I would leave it there and use the cable to pull your new cable through and then just cut the old cable of at the transducer.

If it's an in-hull transducer, you can just pop it off. You might need a sledge to do it. You can get a replacement from Hummingbird.

They should be made to be able to be replaced. I know the ones on sea-rays pull right out, never replaced one on a tige though.

Sweet, thanks a lot. Got lots to do over the winter. New interior, new gauges. The list goes on. Hopefully next year I will be in a v-drive.

99-02 2100v or 22v something less than 35k. I have to sell mine first. But it all depends on what happens over the next 6 months. If I stay in Iraq for 6 more months it's RZ2 time but if not............

I installed a Faria depth finder in our boat which uses a readily available standard in-hull Airmar P79 transducer. This transducer uses a wedge shaped adapter epoxied to the hull to level the transducer. The transducer is twist locked into the adapter. The adapter should be filled with mineral oil or propylene glycol. If the fluid has leaked out the transducer will most likely not work very well. The fluid is similar in density to water and the acoustic signal generated by the transducer will propagate thru it the same as water. The fiberglass hull reduces signal strength a bit, but will still allow for a useable device.

I am looking at replacing my Hummingbird depth finder with

                  http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...ID=SHOPZ_74431.

I have not fully price shopped but I would like to upgrade with the additional water and air temperature measurements.
I suspect I will need to swap out my transducer, am I in for headache's on the upgrade???
