I have had a Sony HDR-SR1, which was the first gen of the AVCHD camcorders that recorded to hard disk. This has been a great camera, no complaints. Our Canon Digital Rebel XT is in the shop, because it has a piece of dust or something in the camera, that is showing up in images. The SR1 only takes 4MP stills, and It can only take like 3 images while you are video taping, and it can't take anymore. The new SR12 camera, takes better HD video, and takes great 10.2MP stills, plus it takes 7.6 MP stills WHILE you are video taping. It can even take as many stills while video taping as your storage allows, no 3 limit. It has 120GB drive, so plenty of storage. The only drawback, is if videotaping, you can snap a photo, and then have to wait about 12 secs to snap another.
Now here are some pics of RJ REALLY starting to boost more and more air. These pics are NOT stills. These are frame grabs done in iMovie taken direct from the 1080HD movies that came off of the camera.
Take a look.
These were taken at Black Butte lake, about 50 mins away. Its actually quicker to go and launch here, due to the difficulty of launching at oroville.
