My Damned Anal Retentiveness can not help itself

OK here is a good one for a new boat owner. I had my Amps installed with the kicker 10" sub on Friday last week by my local car stereo guy. He did a good job, but he painted the mounting boards on the passenger side, but not the driver side. So I look at it yesterday and think, Man I can unhook, take out and paint it black and reinstall. NO BIGGIE.

Well the take out part and paint bit was easy at lunch time yesterday. I go home expecting to put it right back in and then all hell broke loose. He hung half of the mount to the back side of the vinyl facade holders bolts. Of course the factory breaks these bolts short, so they are not sticking out to far when you are storing stuff in there. Broke off bolts do not take to nuts going on and off very well. I got into a situation where the bolts were spinning and could not get them to hold no matter what I did. You do not want to ruin the vinyl, so I got things close after a couple of hours and decided to just help hold the vinyl in place, so it is not loose (that will drive me nuts on the lake) with a couple of short screws from the inside out. Then I go to mount the board again and felt it was a bit loose so screw another wood screw to help it tighten up. (BAD, BAD, BAD) I popped it thru the gel coat (see picture). Now I am very upset, but the show must go on. I get the amp back installed after breaking one of the wires loose and have to take the amp off of the board again to get the wire reconnected. Vacuum up. the 1/2 hour deal turned into 5 hours and now I have a hole in my gel coat.

Is there a good fix to fill the hole?? If I have to look at that hole everytime I am in the boat it will totally make me in a bad mood.

Here are pictures of first the damage, second the set-up.IMG00123.jpg

You should be able to get a gelcoat repair kit from your dealer. They can match the color. Most dealers will be able to do simple repairs like that. I had my telescopic pylon brace mounts removed and they filled in the holes from them for $75 a side.

        Great.
Here are a couple of other pics of the amp on passenger side, kicker 10", and the samson switchblade in down position.

First pic, middle of the pic. Screw Size Hole. You can imagine as I poked my head around the side and saw the screw there, I almost threw up.

The gelcoat repair kit is easy, there have been several posts on here with techniques to finish it nice. I know the feeling well, I bought myself a new nissan titan for christmas and promptly pinstriped the side of the bed in an ally that was too narrow the 2nd week I had it, so I know your feeling, you really wish there was someone else to blame, but it is all your own fault.

Get the "gel coat paste," follow the instructions, it's so simple a caveman could do it. Only need patience, a warm garage and some elbow grease.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

do you have to go thru a dealer for the 'gel coat paste' to match the colors??

If you want it to match, that would be a good idea. It depends on where it is. Even white is not always white.

It also depends on how anal retentive you are for a fix that size....

Spectrum is the company that has the gel coat to match your boat. I've bought some from them and it matched great.

Spectrum, Spectrum, Spectrum. I've done 3 different colors and they match so well I can not find one spot I've fixed. They also have awesome CS if you need help just call them.

                            GUYS the Spectrum worked great....

Thank you for the advice. I was a little nervous with it the first time and had 'sink back' in the hole, so I applied a second time and only I know where I put that hole.....
