Towed on Maiden voyage becuase cooling hoses popped off and filled the bilge with 175* water. Bilge pump got clogged with carpet because it had not screen and blew up. The engine died and we were stranded on the lake of the ozarks with 175* standing water.
Luckily our relative was nearby with his cobalt and he towed us to a dock where we got it pumped out.
Did you have some crawdads or lobsters to throw in that water, that must have been tough on the feet
It's nice, as boaters, we all hang together. I have never been towed during my 7 years as a Tige' owner, although I have come to the rescue, as well as changed a couple of tires for people on the road. I think tomorrow is the day I get to demo an 09 tige. Factory fresh, ready to go. I drove an '08 a couple of weeks ago and loved the ride. Will let you know how the test ride goes and try to get some pics. Gotta go,wife says she needs to snuggle. Will see what I can get out of the deal!!!!! Later BMR
Ok, fess up. Inquiring minds want all the juicy details!
So our first trip with the Tige is to a family reunion at the Lake of the Ozarks. We load up for our first voyage with just about all non-boaters, and a few little children. Head out go down about 2 miles find a nice cove. My sisters boyfriend decides he wants to wakeboard. So we get him set up and get him up and he just standing back there doing nothing. The wake was all washed out the boat was just sluggish so he drops, we pick him up and head out, well the boat has just has no power, cant get on plane and the RPMs are dropping as the throttle goes down. Our relative who by sure luck was in the same cove saw us plowing through the water and got a little suspicious. At this point water is seeping through the driveshaft pannel under the rear seat. We flag him down and tell him were taking on water. Now the engine dies and were dead in the water with about 3 inches of water near the rear seat and all the way up to the driver seat. Little did we know that no more water was coming in. My relative throws us a rope and pulls us down to a marina where my dad and a select few stayed behind to get the boat going. I headed off to get the trailer with my relative who owns the cobalt. We get back to the resort and find out that they got most of the water out and were going to drive it back. So the diagnosis is that two small hoses either came off or were left off and were pumping hot water into the bilge. The bilge pump got clogged with carpet fuzz and blew up becuase it had no screen.
1st thing replaced on the boat, bilge pump. $50.
Next problem was the Perfect Pass. The belt stirred up the water inside the engine compartment and seized the PP servo. $100
Over the winter the starter went bad and would drain the batts when not in use. So all the next year we had to cross our fingers and hope we dont hear the dreaded *click*.
New battery was bought and a Starter. Roughly $400
Steering Cable. $130
=$680
I think thats about all that came from that first trip.
Never been towed, "knock on fiberglass". towed a bass boat in once. then once while waiting for the truck we had the motor cover up and wiping down with the babes, a sanger came by and had the nerve to ask me if i needed a tow. (100 yds from the dock)
Its possible. But i never made a big deal about it and sent Dirty PM.s to people.
Well, that's cause I wasn't a Tige owner yet
