    SURPRISE!

    WOOHOO!

Pop bags just got here in time for our last weekend out on oroville. I will be on the lake all day sat and sun, can't wait.

I have 20 40lb bags. I think I will only need 10 for now, but want to experiment, so this fall I will know EXACTLY how to setup my auto ballast system.

That is awsome. I have been trying to get some from those guys but I got an email from them saying they wouldn't have any till around Sept 8th. So I sent them an email back when I saw you had talked to them and were getting them by this weekend but still haven't received a reply. Let me know how you like them and how you weight your boat with them as my boat is the same as yours and we are surfing all the time now.
    God Bless

I have the 520lbs and a rival ballast but am going to order another 400lbs soon I'm a big guy 6'4 230 lbs so the bigger the wake the better but be carefull, make sure that you learn about what can happen if you have to much lead in your boat

          I think I am aware.

I don't think I will have more than 500 lbs of it, we will see. But we only surf in our home lake, which we know, and it almost never gets out of hand choppy, and we don't go out when it does. We are 90% of the time out when it is midweek with few people and mostly butter.

meant no dissrespect but so far my wife has put water over the bow twice, so I upgraded to two bildge pumps I still training her after 10 years someday she will understand the concept of when you fall throttle down, turn wheel to right, let wave pass then go back and pick up surfer

one way to avoid that is to not put any ballast in the front. Just weight the back, and use taps to bring the front down, it has about the same effect, and much safer.

They worked really well. I put 16 in my boat to experiment, I think my final system will have more like 10-12. I put 3 on each side under my locker sacs, then 5 on each side under side storage.

When we would surf, we would put 10 on side in storage under seat of side to surf, and we would fill up sac on that side in locker. Putting the weight down deep, all the way on the edge of the boat made a big difference, and it meant we were EXTREMELY comfortable in passenger area. no fat bricks in the way, and we only had to make sure we were mostly on that side, we didn't have to throw everyone over on that side, and no one had to sit on the gunwales to make a better wake.

I think in the end, I am going to have custom sacs made, so I have about 750 in each locker, with just 10 bags (400 lbs) to move from side to side in side storage. I will let you know. Should have some pics to post later today, when I get a break from clients.

Those do look pretty convenient. I keep forgetting to bring home lead bricks from work that I was going to use in the same manner. They work pretty well huh? Seems awful expensive for steel shot and cheap canvas.

I think the shipping is probably what kills the price....
