In the market for a new Anchor

I have been boating for 26 years and every time we go out we leave our anchor in the water at our day camp overnight and for 26 years every time we go back to he beach the anchor is right where we left it the night before until now. This last weekend some A-Hole figured he needed it more then we did and he also figured he needed all the tables and chairs that the people next to us on the beach had left over night as well. That's right we got jacked.

The funny thing is they stole the buoy off the box anchor of the people next to us but not the anchor and stole our normal anchor. I guess they were not smart enough to realize ho much the box anchors are.

Now my question, is spending the extra cash on a box anchor worth it and if so what size should I get??? I figured I need a large.

Sorry to hear about your stuff being jacked!

Did you ever consider the anchor SPBFAN has on his website?

Definitely box. I laugh at people diving down to set their anchor when I just toss and forget it. It was tough for me to spend the coin on it but it has been worth every penny.

That's just wrong hate to hear I have 2 fluke style anchors, one that is the proper size for the boat, and one smaller as a back-up. I where going to buy one, it would be a Box Anchor for sure.

Anybody that has to dive down to set an anchor, would probably still have trouble with a box. It's not rocket science, nose into the wind, drop anchor, idle in reverse while letting out enough rode (yes, that's the correct nautical term ) and then make the line taught to get the anchor to bite.

We watch peeps at the sandbar every weekend mess with their ground tackle ( nautical for anchor, chain, and rode) all day long because they only let out enough rope (they call it rope cause they dont know better) for the anchor to reach the bottom. Sorry for the rant

I like the anchor but sometimes anchor off in deep water in a cove and that wouldn't work.
