Last night I sold my 2005 24V. Man, was that tough. I have come to love that boat and know her inside and out. I put her up for sale about a month ago and was about to think that I would wait until spring.
Then a fellow from Vegas who will likely ride most of the year pops up and started making serious inquiries. I was hoping to get to Mead to get him a test drive today and he suggested he drive to my place (2 hours one way) and take it out on the local lake and take it home with him if he finds it meets his expectations. He liked it! So he took it home. I felt like I just lost an old pet dog as he drove away....
Special thanks to Dan (of Dan and Christy) for test driving with him and also for talking up Tige's virtues, I am sure it made him feel good about his decision.
An even bigger thanks to Supra for making the crappy 2005 21V that he test drove a few days ago. He commented multiple times 'this is way better than the Supra I drove a few days ago'.
So now I gotta decide what to do. RZ2, 24Ve or RZ4. Those are the contenders. What color?
I spent a ton of money on some retaining wall and concrete work this summer and currently don't have the cash for the difference between what I sold it for and what I will buy a new one for, so it looks like some financing unless I wait for a little while. That makes the wife pretty nervous. Of course she is right, financing depreciating toys is never a smart financial move. We will have to weigh that against the benefit for the family.
He needed to shave a few bucks off of the purchase price so I kept the NVS Tyrants and my amp for those. So I am in good shape for the next boat as far as tower speakers go. I also kept the majority of the life jackets and all of my ropes, so I won't have to restock on stuff.
Now I have to be boatless for the reunion that I am organizing. I will get to learn what it is like to be a boat whore . Thanks to SBFan for already offering. I guess I won't be showing everyone up at the stereo competition after all. My boat might be there, but it won't have the tower speakers. As we pulled out of the lake last night, the lake went quiet and calm. There was something beautiful as I blasted 'Back in Black' one last time. I knew it was good when I could hear a little fishing boat in the dark say 'turn it off'.
