    DUDE, I AM BOATLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night I sold my 2005 24V. Man, was that tough. I have come to love that boat and know her inside and out. I put her up for sale about a month ago and was about to think that I would wait until spring.

Then a fellow from Vegas who will likely ride most of the year pops up and started making serious inquiries. I was hoping to get to Mead to get him a test drive today and he suggested he drive to my place (2 hours one way) and take it out on the local lake and take it home with him if he finds it meets his expectations. He liked it! So he took it home. I felt like I just lost an old pet dog as he drove away....

Special thanks to Dan (of Dan and Christy) for test driving with him and also for talking up Tige's virtues, I am sure it made him feel good about his decision.

An even bigger thanks to Supra for making the crappy 2005 21V that he test drove a few days ago. He commented multiple times 'this is way better than the Supra I drove a few days ago'.

So now I gotta decide what to do. RZ2, 24Ve or RZ4. Those are the contenders. What color?

I spent a ton of money on some retaining wall and concrete work this summer and currently don't have the cash for the difference between what I sold it for and what I will buy a new one for, so it looks like some financing unless I wait for a little while. That makes the wife pretty nervous. Of course she is right, financing depreciating toys is never a smart financial move. We will have to weigh that against the benefit for the family.

He needed to shave a few bucks off of the purchase price so I kept the NVS Tyrants and my amp for those. So I am in good shape for the next boat as far as tower speakers go. I also kept the majority of the life jackets and all of my ropes, so I won't have to restock on stuff.

Now I have to be boatless for the reunion that I am organizing. I will get to learn what it is like to be a boat whore . Thanks to SBFan for already offering. I guess I won't be showing everyone up at the stereo competition after all. My boat might be there, but it won't have the tower speakers. As we pulled out of the lake last night, the lake went quiet and calm. There was something beautiful as I blasted 'Back in Black' one last time. I knew it was good when I could hear a little fishing boat in the dark say 'turn it off'.
    Be excellent to one another.

Borrow Moki's or da.bell's second boat. Moki wanted to win the stereo contest anyways. Plus, you might get to hang out with G-Money's entourage.

        Tall,

So here's the million dollar question. Are you going to get a Samson Switchblade tower or the OEM Malibu looking tower?

I am pretty dead set against the OEM Malibu looking tower. I guess we should now be calling it by name: Alpha Z. It won't fit my musical tastes, as that you can't put some NVS big guns or even Wetsounds 485's on it. That leaves me with another Tige tower or other aftermarket. A buddy of mine has a Malibu with Pro 60's on it and they simply are too loud for people in the boat, and not loud enough behind it.

After Ragboy's experience, I have to consider the Samson.
          Be excellent to one another.

Are you thinking red again for the new one?

                Thats good news!

I like a max of two colors, one of them having to be either black or white.

                  Tall,

You need to see a Samson tower in person to really appreciate the quality of their work.
Hopefully Ragboy will chime in on this.
After owning my 22V with a Samson Razor tower I can't say enough good things about them. They kick Arse.

This time I will likely end up with something more unique. Orange, yellow or all white. Maybe purple and grey?

In Vegas, they used to use a lot of the Razors and I have seen them up close and they are awesome. The boat shop did one Switchblade, and for some reason it is terribly unsteady, so they haven't done one since. I am sure that something is wrong with that one switchblade, based on everything I have read since.

Go with a winner color combination; Cardinal and Gold.

Tall, I realize that you can still hitch a ride on Todd's boat anytime, but if the need arises you are more than welcome on my boat, anytime.

Are you going to hold off until spring to get one? That seems like the smartest thing to do and that will give you some time to save a few $$ up.

No joke on that. The switchblade I have uses the full 3" tubing. It is SO stout and beefy. The mounts and engineering are fantastic. I would not hesitate to get a switchblade again. The new towers are too short, and how are you going to get speakers and surfboards all over that thing?

Here are some pics, try to show you how beefy the mounts are, and the hardware.

Lights and quick disconnect speaker mounts.

This is a good picture of the solid rear mount, and the optional half surf half wake board racks.

I think this picture was an accident, but you can see how beefy the front mount is.

Absolutely NO problem for my tower.

Now this is a great image. My warehouse was just about empty this day. My parents and their 10 foster/adopt kids are on my pontoon, and we have the waverunners out. But I am 6'2" tall, tower and bimini and speakers are OUT of my way. You can see my flag holder on top.

Not very clear, but you get the idea.

Last one, shows the rear mounts, and how the tower like pivots out a bit when folded down. Very cool.
