Ballast in 21v for goofyfoot surfer???

As a goofyfooter I surf on the crap (starboard) side of our 21V. With a usual crew of 5-6 people in the boat, and taps at 7, the size is ok but I'm always fighting the whitewash.
Last trip I borrowed 2 ballast bags (1 huge and 1 small). On day 1, I had both bags in the back of the lounge. Day 2, I put 1 in each rear locker (big bag on the driver side). Both days sucked. The wash was worse. Should I have put more weight in the front?
How do you clean up the wake on the crap side???

What speed are you trying to run? When weight is added, most Tiges like the TAPS down around 3-5.

I would start by putting the huge bag in the locker on the starboard side and the small bag in the bow on the starboard side. Then all the people on the starboard side. Taps at 5-7ish. What's ur speed?
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

Hey CHP what's ur ballast config for surfing the goofy side? I know you weigh your boat down pretty well too and we have a 22Vé as well. Our goofy side likes the taps at 5.5-6.5 speed (depending on rider) anywhere from 10.6-12.4.

and thats with the rear locker full, front u-sac full, 450 in the stbd rear locker and 350 below the seats on the stbd side.

This winter we are gonna add a custom surf sac to the darkside since all of us ride goofy!

Kinda funny, I was a goofy rider, in more ways then one , when we started surfing 2 years ago. No one else was so I found it easier for me to switch to regular, then move weight from rider to rider. So, I have not weighed the goofy side since.

Our reg side is TAPS = 4-5 and speed 10.5 - 11, do you guys ride reg any?

The only time we ride regular is if one of our friends (which are almost all goofy or are goofy-converts) rides regular then we only fill the back port locker and put everyone on that side, taps at 4-5 and speed 10.2-11.0. That side sucks in comparison because of the lack of weight but its too big of a hassle to put sacs in the port side since all of our "stuff" is over there since our stbd side storage has nothin but sacs in it.

We are just the opposite, wife and son ride reg, any newbies just learn reg and I ski goofy. It was just easier to re-teach myself to ride reg and not move weight. I had Weilthing out with us in June, he tried to surf goofy with very little weight on that side and it really never cleaned up for him. If I was still filling sacs manually, it would have been easier to move sacs and refill, instead, we just moved peeps.

Sounds like we have the exact same, but opposite, story. We teach everyone to ride goofy and the few people that ride regular never really get a good wake..

I have a 21i, granted it isn't a V drive, but my wake on the Starboard side is much cleaner and easier to fine tune then the port side. why is that?

Hallelujah we aren't the only ones.. Does it have to do with prop rotation? If so why does everyone seem to have problems dialing in that side. For us, it is a cinch.

I don't know if its relevant but I noticed my speedo won't read accurate under fifteen. When we surf it actually says 14.5
I know this because I have a police radar I use to calibrate.
There is another guy at my lake with a newer boat and it reads correct so maybe its the older gauges.

WE tried between 9.5 and 11. Nothing seemed to work.

Are you guys saying with weight in the front and back on the riders side, you can clean up the wake even if its the side the prop dumps all the wash on???

Weight up front will lengthen the pocket, but at the same time, take away from the height a little.

I would do 2 things next trip out: check your speedo with a handheld GPS - whitewash sounds like your too slow to me. Bring the TAPS down to about 4
