You have the old style ballast tanks. The new ones will be like I described above and be under the floor.

Somebody has said that they thought the new system may not be ready for the initial 09 roll-outs.

My dealer seems to think they are ready about now. But sometimes they just tell people that. He said that for sure the first 09's will not have the new ballast until they feel completely comfortable with it.

I know that but I don't think most of the customers of the 09s knew that. Better if it was kept a secret from them .

There is some info on other threads about the new ballast system, but here is the deal: There are 3 inch holes in the transom of the boat that go into an enclosed portion of the hull. You hit a button, and the gate valve opens and within 30 seconds, you have 400 pounds or more in that part of your hull. To empty, you open the valve and drive away, just close the valve before you come off of plane or it will refill as soon as you stop. I think it deserves a lot of hype. It can all be under the floor.

If it lives up to its billing, I think this is the single greatest thing for Tige in recent years, with the PCM upgrade a close second.
We had some 2009 boats come in last week and they have in floor ballast but still have pumps and not the holes in the transom as you speak of.

just the fact that they are in the floor is cool. i would be really happy with that. then you could put even more in the compartments for surfing.

Whoops! I jumped to conclusions since I was unaware that Tige was now able to make any underfloor traditional fill ballast systems.

Polk, exactly where are your tanks? Behind the interior transom wall, or under the floor of the storage areas?

Any ideas on when the new ballast system is rolling out? Any official info sources on whether the transom-fill ballast system is actually slated for 09?
