    Help w/ portable battery starters

Need a little help. Does anyone know much about these battery packs? What does the peak amps mean? Is this Cranking Amps or something else.

I am looking at this option rather then adding a 2nd battery and other options. I plan on adding a battery tender so I can keep the battery charged up. This is just one that doesn't have bad reviews. I was looking at one from Sears but had mostly bad reviews. I am not set on this yet just trying to do some reseach before I decide if this is an ok way to go or add the 2nd battery.

    Thanks

    That one looks good.

Stay away from the Sears one. Mine started smoking within 30 minutes running LED xmas lights.
If its not fun, Why do it?

I had the same idea that you had, and bought the one from the Costco website this past spring. I ended up adding a 2nd battery this year too.

Which one from Sears had bad reviews and started smoking???? I picked out one for this past Xmas from Sears. I've used all the features/gadgets and no problems from it yet! May need to look into it and see if I may need to trade it out for a new one

        Here's the one I got: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...s+%26+Boosters

I found this on the sears website. 29 reviews.

Chp: this is the one I was going to get. It is on sale right now and is the biggest I have seen.

The reason I am looking at this is because my boat is a 2000 and done want to waste the money if I don't have too. I was told that one battery shouldn't have a problem w/ the stereo even if I add a 2nd 5 channel amp. I don't use my boat but 1 or 2 times a month. My little man is playing baseball now and that takes a lot of my time.
So, anybody have any info on what the amps mean?

I usually stay away from products like this: all-in-one. It's usually cheap @$$ versions of every function in a delicate plastic housing that breaks the first time you use it.

I picked up a Black and Decker Electromate 400 and have had no issues with it.

We also use it if we loose power to run fans.

I bought one from Walmart and haven't had any issues with it. We bought it for the 24Ve when we had one deep cycle battery. The RZ2 has 1 starting deep cycle batteries and 3 deep cycle batteries for the stereo. I still bring the portable battery on each trip just in case.

Realistically, adding another batter is only about another 30-50$. Why not just go that route? I've been through a couple of the jumpers. They don't seem to hold charges well, so unless you're on top of keeping it maintained (a pita) they're useless anyways.

I'd just get the second battery and avoid the headache if you can swing the extra couple bucks.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Two batteries with an isolator is the way.
