Looking for Opinion of those who live in Southern CA
Looking for Opinion of those who live in Southern CA
Sorry, this is kind off the boat topic, but I have a career "opportunity" out in Temecula, CA and looking for some opinions on the area. Also, most importantly, are there any nice lakes around there?
There is a lake just south of Temecula but I don'tknow how good it is.
There is a good Indian casino, it's wine country and some good golf courses.

I live about 10 miles north of Temecula, in Lake Elsinore, CA. As far as lakes, there is a private lake in Temecula, Vail Lake, and you pay for a membership, I don't know the fee, because I live on a free lake. Lake Elsinore, is the up the 15, north of Temac, minutes away. Elsinore is the biggest puddle around, unless you want to head to the River or up the hill to Big Bear. The River is hours away, Big Bear is less than 2 hours drive. There is also a gated community called Canyon Lake, which is another private lake, northeast of Temac. CL is an HOA, and if you like being told what to do all the time, CL isn't that bad, but ah.
This is the right time to move to CA, since the price of homes is so-so-so cheap, compared to years past. You can score these days on sick deals. It's not going to last long, there is no more land being made in SoCal, the prices "will" go back up. If you have a good gig to start with, I would go for it. Endless Summer is nice, real nice.......
Good luck with the quest.

I live in NorCal, but used to live down south in that other "state" of southern California (but not near Temecula). I'll stick with the north.
Temecula'll be quite different than Kenosha, but it depends on what you're looking for. No snow, but only one season (maybe one and a half). Lake Elsinore is right close, but so is Mexico. It does look like Temecula is out of the main hustle and bustle of SoCal. That'd be a plus in my mind.
Check out greatschools.net for local opinions about area schools. Hopefully, the prospective employer will fly you out for a visit. Looks like home prices might be double those in kenosha as per zillow.com
Snow? That's easy too, about an hour and half up the hill to Big Bear, and Wrightwood is even closer. Best part is, when your done with the "snow" you can just head home to no snow. Really, it's that easy. Don't want snow, go west 30 minutes and that's where the Ocean is. Want hit Las Vegas, 3 hours up the 15. Mexico isn't that bad, 2 hours due south. The possibilities are endless.....

Here are a few more choices for you.....San Vicente Lake in San Diego Co. south of Temecula. There is also Silverwood lake which is north of San Bernardino, and Lake Perris which is in Perris also just north of Temecula.
If you move there you need to get some black socks, a flat bill hat, Dickies shants & a dirt bike! Metal Mullisha for life
Ok Bro...

on the subject of "bros" which are commonly referred to in SoCal as 909'ers (909 area code that makes up the "Inland Empire")
A bar in newport beach called Mutt Lynch's has a marquee above the entrance that has had a few funny stabs at "bros" over the last year.
The marquee has read: "When it's 101 degrees in the I.E., it's 909 in Newport Beach." (because of the massive influx of bros to the beaches of Newport)
and my favorite: "Last week wasn't an earthquake that hit SoCal, all the 909'ers started their trucks." (see attached)
