I tried to and he acted like I was crazy! It seems like many dealers know about the paddle wheel fix, so I can bet that they know but make a heck of a lot more money selling the whole unit so that's what they do.

Oh well, we don't live over there any more anyway so I'll just order parts from Lee or another Tige dealer now anyway.

I found thats its easier and cheaper if you just forget the dealer and get the stuff on your own. Unless its something that dealer has to do it.

I'll second this. What you really want to do is use this as an opportunity to start a dialogue. It may be too late for the restocking fee, but maybe next time they'll cut you a break. As I mentioned in another thread a long time ago, I didn't exactly get off on the right foot with my dealer either. I stewed about it a little bit, but then I decided to go speak with the owner and see what we could work out to set things straight. I'm glad I did because I've had nothing but good experiences since. If the dealer is serious about his business, you'll probably get the same result. If you don't tell them, how would they ever know that they needed to get better. Keep it constructive and you'll reap the rewards of a great relationship.

I'd watch out for that chpthril guy, tho

I'm with you on this one. The boat is close to out of warranty so I'll just go directly to the manufacturer from now on.

I guess I didn't come off constructive when telling him about the paddle wheel fix, maybe its before the sentence before I told him it was crap that he sold me something I didn't need.

So I'm done with this......can anybody tell me how to put this paddlewheel in

            • Remove the safety wire on the sending unit in the bilge.
            • Remove the sending unit by unscrewing the cap and cutting any tie wraps necessary to get enough wire slack. (Don't cut the cable or you'll be ordering a complete unit )
            • Drive the stainless pin out of the sender and the wheel'll fall out
            • Replace with the new wheel and pin making sure the flat sides of the blades face forward like the old one
            • Perhaps replace the o-rings with the new ones.
            • Lube the o-rings with silicone grease
            • Reinstall the sender, tie wrapping the cable and securing with the safety wire

I dont blame you for canceling the order and going with a cheaper option, especially if your dealer knew there was cheaper fix. I just think your opening post was a little ruff on the dealer assuming they where doing you wrong out of greed.

If you felt, after presenting them with the cheaper option, that they new and were not interested, then a post venting your displeasure would be in order.

Not trying to pick a fight or come down on anyone, but keep in mind that boats are typically a long term investment and dealers, unlike the car biz, are not on every street corner. If you dont like one Chevy dealer, I'll bet you pass 2 more on the ride to work.

I don't pass any on my way to work. Only work 5 miles away from home.

This takes less than 5 minutes. You may need a pair of channel locks to loosen the cap, but it should be easy to do. If it feels like it's binding, take a closer look. Also, only hand tighten the cap again and make sure it's not cross threaded. Make sure the arrow is pointing forward on the sender.

                      Thank you!!

I am talking about the only paddlewheel on my 2006 24ve, and it is mounted thru hull on the starboard side of the engine.

After I got off the phone with him and he told me the part was $470 bucks, and I said I just wanted the wheel and he said you had to buy the whole unit I had one of those "what in the hell just happened" moments.

No offense taken from your comments on this post though.
