The current system in the 07s 08s and maybe 06s do the same as well.

As per any new innovation there are always bugs to be worked out. So i gaurentee that something will be wrong with it. New Ideas either flip or flop. Last year Malibu had a massive recall on throttles. Tige had a board rack issue a couple years ago.

And im sure that if this idea turns out to be killa, im sure Tige will have it by 2010 J/k guys

But seriously Im sure that it wont be perfect and that something will be wrong. Whether its LCD image persistance (unlikely), or its hard to see in sunlight (possible) or something else that no one thought of.

Im not hear to bash Tige, and say TIGE BLOWS! We have owned one, I know exactly where tige stands. We bought a Malibu because they have we need in a boat. Im also hear because Im a PW addict Its like part of my day to log on and drop a line. I have posted on themalibucrew but over there they dont know me as the 16 year old know it all bu owner. Im just a newbie bu owner.

        Dude,
That one was below the belt...but too true.

Maybe we will have it by late '09.

I hope they make it a touch screen by then.

That's awesome! I love innovation and competition. I'd love it even more if it was on a Tige. After installing my own automated ballast, I'm a huge fan. I also love my PerfectPass.

That said, I do think not everything could be automated because you can never account for how many people you have in the boat, so things like the wedge or TAPS will require constant adjustment.

Im not impressed,it's the same platform borrowed from GM.Now if the boat gave you a hand job while you where driving, that would be special.

that's really cool and all, but the driver has enough to worry about while towing a rider, they don't need to be running a computer at the same time. Simplicity is where it is at. There is a huge learning curve that comes with that stuff to the non tech savy, I want to get in my boat a go have fun, not dink with a computer display the entire time. eventually that stuff will be phased out as fast as it came in because people will realize that it is annoying running that stuff. for example my dad had GPS in his MKX, liked it at first, but now prefers driving his new Passat because he got a regular stereo in it, much easier to use.

You are 100% right. I am sure that GPS, cell phones, Ipods et... are just a phase and that they will slowly vanish. In your example, your dad doesn't like GPS but the next generation does and it expects the latest technological advancements in its vehicles, cell phones, computers and guess what, their boats. If you are not the lead dog, the view never changes.

X2...bunch of geniuses out there. Including Team Allen now too.

Any bets on if Tige is going to get a surf gate then? There is talk on the malibu website about a pretty airtight patent on it. We'll see.

Not sure how to patent a hydraulic gate!

Tige can get creative and simply add two of the TAPS plates to the sides with the TAPS actuator....done and done.

My bet is that Tige and others will see how this pans out for Malibu then jump in if it's any good. I can imagine a lot of potential issues that will drive people crazy IF the benefit isn't noticeable enough.
