I always use my blower. If we have been stopped for a long time I pop the hood and turn on the blower before starting the engine. Especially if it is real hot out.

        I with you LP
I guess I figure that it will vent itself on the drive from the gas station to the water.
What if the gas line or filter is leaking, then when you turn you key on the line will pressurize and start leaking just before you start it.
        BOOM.

I open the cowl before i crank up to air it out and to inspect to make sure there isn't anything out of the ordinary .

I have watched a sterndrive glastron go up in flames though. and a neighbors glastron did the same. i wonder if its more common with the I/O drives?

Had an I/O before our Tige and there's nothing about an I/O I can think of that would make them more likely. Did the Glastrons have carbs or FI? Ours had a carburetor and now we have fuel injection. That might make a difference. Fuel injection lines are better quality, but that's because the pressures are higher. It's interesting to see in the junkyards the difference in engine compartment fires. With a carb fire there would be a melted carb and a burn spot in the center of the hood. With fuel injected engines the entire top of the engine bay would be fried.

I turn it on before I start the boat every time, after some friends destroyed their Mastercraft years ago.

I don't use it at launch becuase I have the engine cover open while I idle around letting the engine warm up and checking for oncoming water. But after that I run mine for atleast 30 seconds before starting, every time.

I use mine after every fill even if it is on the trailer. Other wise never.

I run it before putting the boat into the water and if I am sitting for any length of time with the engine off, I will run it again. Normally, I forget to turn it off.

But, with the amount of force that the air is being drawn out, I wonder if I get better fuel economy since it's helping to propel me through the water. j/k

I always run the blower prior to stating the engine.

When I had a boat that is. And I wiil do the same on the next one.

I always run mine for at least a couple minutes before starting. If we are surfing I run it all the time, wakeboarding just when we are idling back to pick up a downed rider.

When I lived in San Antonio we were at seaworld waiting for the ski show to start and one of their boats caught on fire when they went to start it. In the paper they stated it was because of fumes and that the driver did not use the blower. I always turn mine on when I prep it on the ramp.

Always use the blower for 3-5 minutes before first start and on the lake as well if we shut down for any length of time.
