    2001 23V

Hello, sorry for the post I'm new here and trying to find out as much information as I can on a 2001 23V. I'm looking at buying one from a co-worker and wanted to see if I could get a somewhat unbiased opinion. It seems to have everything my family would need (2 adults, 4 kids) to get started enjoying the lake. Any Pros or Cons would be very welcome.

    Thanks,

I'm interested in durability, ride, and wondering if it does a good job of pulling wakeboards and surfers. The boat has 60 hours on it so I'm assuming thats pretty good and I'm compairing it to an 03 Super Air 211 limited (well kind of comparing, but the nautique is 9k more). Just want to make sure I make the right choice.

60 hours is hardly anything. I hope that it has been well cared for and maintained. at less than 10 hours per year, it probably has rat's nests in the bilge and beehives in the air exhausts.

The surf wake for that boat is legendary.

The wakeboard wake is terrific, but curls over if you put 2k+ pounds of ballast in the boat. Most people never are good enough to need that much weight.

The tower from that year is a disaster. It rattles and it will break. Maybe a pic of it would help us to know if that is the problematic tower, or if he has upgraded it.

If the price is right, it is well maintained and you plan on replacing the tower, that boat will do you right.
        Be excellent to one another.

Probably the biggest difference you'll see is room and storage. The SAN 211 is a very small boat for its size. The 2300v, on the other hand, is enormous. If you plan on spending any time out on the water with this boat, storage is very important, especially with 4 kids.

Aside from what talltigeguy says about the tower, this really is a great boat. If you're worried about the tower, this is easily replaced and would cost you anywhere from $1500-$3000 depending on what you want and how much bling you want to add to it.

I would have a trusted mechanic check it out. If you have a local Tige dealer, take the boat to them. If they maintained it over the years, then you'll know what you're getting into.

Here is a picture of the boat. I have another one, but it's a print and don't have access to a scanner atm. The tower is white with a Tige logo on the sides.

Thanks again for all your help.

sixty hours is way too low for that boat.If I did buy it I would have it serviced with new fluids and impeller for starters.
Durability,Every line of boats has there weak points.Tiges have a few but nothing that would make me not buy another.
Wakeboard,The wakeboard wake cleans up about 21 mph and with the taps you can adjust how steep the lip is.
Surf,23V with the proper weight is considered a competent surf boat.

I purchased mine because the interior space, wake size, and good ruff water ride.
I guess the real deciding factor for me would be the condition of the boat and the price.

That tower is NOT the tower we have affectionately called the 'metcrap' tower. The designer is Metcraft on the bad tower and he pulled a real boner. Looks like a nice boat. You should be good to go with that tower.

My boat is a 02 and has a different style metcraft tower than the one people have problems with.I don't know when they changed it but I think late 01's had my tower.

I guess this was the revised metcraft.

The 23v is as awesome boat. I have an 01 with the same phat budde tower as in the picture, and I havent had any problems with the tower. The boat is a tank. I bought mine because its size and deep hull seemed like the better family boat, its definetly lived up to my expectations. The surf wake is incredible...the wake board wake is good when you figure out where you need extra weight.

I bought mine with 56 hours three years ago and have had no major issues, mostly just normal wear and tear. I would definetly take it to a mechanic for inspection.

I had an 02 with the same tower that formandfunction has. They stopped putting the messed up tower on somewhere between late 01 and early 02. I think it is a great tower...so they immediately changed it
