Last week of summer at Lake Powell - Pic-o-rama

We spent the last week of summer at Lake Powell and kept the houseboat in the covered slip with the air conditioner running all the time. Although it wasn't as hot as it can get. The highs were in the low 100's instead and mid 90's. On the way down we were about 5 miles from Powell and drove through a hail storm, buckets of water and 2 inches of hail on the road. The temperature dropped from 101 to 54 then back to 101. The first day we had isolated thunderstorms which cooled it down for us.

Here you can see a little bit of the rainbow effect where there was sun and showers.

This houseboat was having a bad day. It was sunk at the ramp. He probably took on water and made it as far as the ramp before it sunk.

We stayed mostly in bullfrog bay and it wasn't that crowded and of course evenings and morning are best for glass

We did some wakeboarding, I and others worked on our face plants:

We did a lot of surfing and surf teaching. Here I am getting my 3 year old to understand the basics:

Using my new Zen-based teaching style, our friend's daughter was surfing on her 2nd try:

And a little late night full moon surfing:

Here's a new perspective on wakesurfing photos. I took these pictures while surfing:

We also did quite a bit of canyon exploring:

I volunteered my friends Reinell boat for that

This water was very cold as it was not from the lake but seeping out of the rock:

The reason why it is called Bullfrog bay:

Helping the kiddies down the cliffs:

Helping them back in the boat after the hike:

Here's a large cavern that we went to get out of the sun:

The picture of the other boat in the background gives you an idea of how large it is:

Here it is in the background:

Welcome back, it looks like you guys had lots of fun. Thanks for sharing some pictures and making us "working people" a little jealous. Let's get together before the summer is over.

The cavern looks like Lost Eden canyon.

That's where we party and crank the tunes.

Thanks guys for the nice comments on the pics. Bibbs, Timmy & Larry you are going to love it when you get there. Airjorgy, we had small improptu stereo contest with a Malibu on one day

Chpthrl, just like the cliff, I had nothing to do with that boat sinking That was funny!

Talltigeguy, it looks like the water line was lower when you were there, we couldn't see the seep lines. This place is right next to Halls Creek Bay and you have to weave up a narrow channel before it opens up. Is that the same place?

EKS, I am up for surfing before it's too late - still need to see your ballast.
