Definately a bearing. Look at the reddish dust on the tire... that dust (unless that's a spare) and the lean are sure signs of a bearing gone bad. Screeching while turning also signifies it.

    Good luck

Oops... guess I should have read the whole thing then I would have known you already figured out it was a bearing! LOL

Tell the idiot tow truck guy that if you have more trailer problems down the road, you will come looking for him.

The difference is the liabilty for additional damage falls to them, not you if something happens.

Let them f it all up--they'll be paying to fix it.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

It won't mess it up though, that's the whole thing....you can strap the axle up if you have leaf's and it will be just fine. The boat doesn't require a tandem axle trailer so as long as you still have a wheel on that side you are good.

What would you strap the axle up with?

Yikes, my emergency supplies list is getting long ... I am sure I will overlook the very thing I end up needing first.

ratchet strap or a tiedown from the back of the boat. You ARE going to be going slow, right?
                      It's not an optical illusion.
                      It just looks like one.....

Is that the axle with breaks?

mine did the same things and the bearings were shot. The tire actually fell off while pulling the boat. I just happened to be passing a boat ramp at the time. I unloaded the boat and took it to a trailer shop. The spindle had to be fixed. $200 later, everything was working properly. I always had to watch that tire. I did not trust the fix. In hind sight, I would have just replaced the axle.
If its not fun, Why do it?

Ditto, I moved my boat from drive way around the block into the back yard once on three and decided that was far enough.

I might do it on back two. I don't think only one breaking would
                                be my type of fun.
