The advent of the modern wakeboat along with the high risk of injury from wakeboarding made surfing a good option.Its a side affect of modern boats

That is awesome!! Interesting to see the wake from the boat they used in teh picture. Apparently the wake is far less than what we have today even without any additions such as ballast.

I think thats why it has become so popular,because now people have the equipment to get the job done.Duke was ahead of his time along with the people wakesurfing in the sixties.
I still can't grasp the concept of someone wakesurfing in 1904,thats before the ford model T and pleasure boats.What was he surfing behind?Steam powered river boat?What year was the ski invented?Did wakesurfing predate the water ski?
