    Response to Tige's CSI Survey

Before Tige’ could even send their CSI survey to us our brand new boat w/ less than 11 hrs on the motor had the transmission go out. Unfortunately for us I was transferred to a state (IL) w/out a dealer so the boat sat out of commission from July 6th – July 28th being repaired. The closest dealer to the boat is in St. Louis so now on top of being w/out the boat we also spent a ton of extra time and money driving to St Louis to drop off & pickup the boat. (2.5 hrs one-way from the boat plus 2.5 hrs one-way to get to the lake)

It has been very upsetting to spend this much on a new boat to have it out of service for almost a month of what is already a very short season in Illinois. I am not really sure there is anything any one can add but I wanted to vent and let someone know that I am very disappointed thus far with the boat and see if anyone on this board has had similar issues.

Back-story on me: I have owned a ton of boats in my life (mostly Nautiques since I was a promo driver for them @ one time. I worked for a Nautique dealer in MI and even ran a Correct Craft dealership for a year, so I know that things sometime happen but I have never had something like this happen on a brand new boat. I was really hoping that the Tige’ days of old are over. I was the SE Sales rep for KD/Blindside from 1999 – 2001 and spent some time w/ Charley Paterson and riding in his Tiges that were basically falling apart underneath him. It has been my understanding that Tige has come a long way in the last 5 years but this start has not really done anything to show me any different. Unfortunately w/ only 11hrs on the boat it is way too early to tell if the rest of the boat will hold up any better, but I now have my doubts.

The boat was supposedly ready as of July 28th but due to my schedule I was unable to pick it up until Friday Aug 1st. Now that we have the boat back the throttle is soooo stiff and hard to push forward that I am actually a little afraid to use the boat for fear of something sticking or breaking w/ the shifter cable. Strike number 3 is that the steering wheel also feels scary loose. I have called both dealers the one we purchased the boat from and the one who preformed the warranty work on the transmission and they each have a different theory as to why the throttle is so stiff. They both offered for me to call them back the next time I am setting in the boat to talk me through a possible repair but I should not have to be spending valuable lake time making repairs to a brand new boat.

I am hoping that is the dealer would have been able to water test the boat I might be a little happier right now but w/ the flooding situation around the Mississippi I understand them not being able to do water tests.

I am willing to give it one more chance and then it will be back to Correct Craft. I made the mistake of changing brands back in 97 and owned a Malibu for a year and after that debacle I swore to myself I would never own anything but Nautiques. While living in FL I also sold Malibu & MasterCrafts and still would not own either brand even @ dealer cost.

I am really hoping that I have not made another poor decision in judgment by changing brands so I hope that Tige will step up to reassure me that I have indeed made the correct purchase.

I really want to emphasize that the Tige’ dealer who sold us the boat has been absolutely great and deserves nothing but 100% from us as far as their CSI scores go. I know the St. Louis dealer will do all they can but I am not expecting miracles from them since they did not sell me the boat. I am only disappointed in manufacturing part the boat/motor that has nothing to do w/ the dealerships.

FYI: I placed all of this same info in the on-line survey to Tige and have yet to hear anything from them. If this would have happened to one of my Nautiques the dealer would have been @ my house picking the boat and I would have heard from the factory right away. I also think this would have been a similar situation if I still lived in FL. The funny thing was I called the factory to find the closest dealer and told them what happened and I never even got a “sorry to hear you are having troubles” call or a follow up call just to make sure everything was going OK.

Call Andrew at Tige and he can authorize another site to work on your boat issues. This is what I understand.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Did you call Tige customer service reps, not just the dealer locator at any time?

When something like that happens under warranrty here in So Cali,, it's as fast as UPS can deliver the new parts/units and the mechanic can get them installed.

We came away with the impression Tige's is considering dropping ZF and MP from the way the questions read in their questionaire/owners survey.

Truely sorry to read about your ordeal. You should have not had to go through that.

Back in the reallly bad Tige' and Tigewatersports customer abusement days one call to the factory customer service usually got things rolling.

If you would have waited a little bit you could have had an 09 with a PCM motor. Just like you Nautique

Unless somethings changed as of late. Andrew hasn't been around for some time. Try harvey!
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

The thing that confuses me is that you've been around and owned several nautiques, rave about nautique's great doorstep customer service, was a dealer for them and promo driver for them for years, what made you switch to a boat manufacturer that you thought had bad business practices 5 years ago and had personally saw someones boat fall apart from underneath them?

I'm not trying to bust your balls, just curious as to why the flipflop. If I had an awesome experience with a certain brand I would stick with that brand myself but I do hope Tige takes care of your problem quickly so you can get back out on the water.

Try Reeds Marine in Delavan Wisconsin. 2 hours from Chicago.. tops. If in suburbs probably less. Just Northwest of Lake Geneva, Call them at 262-728-6399.

Have them see if they can work on your boat for warranty stuff going forward. They are a lot closer and they are a very customer oriented dealer.

See if they can get Harvey to move your service there.

Im getting real sick of people complaining about down time.I broke my freakin leg and then had to go to the dentist four times in a row then got dry socket twice in the same tooth. On top of that it came out of my savings account because I have no insurance.Do you hear me complaining? Some years are good some are bad but a grown man complaining on a forum about something under warranty is too much for me to handle. Then you make comments like the older boats falling apart under charlie?I have a bad arse 02 model we use four times a week and it has no more problems than any other boat.In fact the only thing I changed was a pully and belt all year.
Third, why come on here complaining to us when you don't even post here before the fact?Your not a regular here so what gives you the right to post crap on your newbie account. We not good enough when things are going good but we should have to listen to you complain when you have a problem?
Screw that I don't want to hear about your problems.

Sorry I have invaded your precious forum and got your panties in such a bunch. The reason I am a newbie is that I just purchased a Tige. Why would I be hanging out on a Tige owner’s forum if I did not own one? I was only looking to hear what others had to say and from everyone but you I got exactly what I looking for. Since you are such an expert with your whapping 50 posts I only have 49 more to go and then I can be just like you

I hang out here and I don't even own a Tige anymore or any other boat for that matter. I am hooked, it is harder than quitting heroin. Is there a 12 step program out there to help me get off this forum?

Very good question about why I would changing brands, while we were living in FL one of our best friends became a Tige dealer and he sponsored the ski team with a boat. Seeing how the team boat held up with the abuse it received was one of the major factors in our decision. The other was that dealer was also a huge Nautigue fan @ one time and made the switch, along with my personal opinion only that Correct Craft’s pricing is getting a little bit on the high side. Just like we all do sometimes we go for the great deal and do not really consider all of the other factors because we are caught up in the price only thing.

Thanks to everyone else for the info and the input! I will stay off the page now to keep “formandfunction” from having a “grabber”. I do not need that on my conscience.
