Met Scot Byerly

Well you just never know. We own an automotive service center in west Texas and this last Thursday we got a call to go to I-10 to change a tire on a trailer. My son (age 37) went to deliver and mount the tire. He gets there and and there is a black Nautique behind a black motor home with Byerly and nautique all over the place. He said he thought boy this guy must be a big Scott Byerly fan.
About that time this guy comes out of the motor home with tatoos all over him and my son says OH SHIZZ SCOTT BYERLY. This guy justs laughs and says well you must be a wakeboarder. Jay answered not really, but I love to try. Long story longer by the time He left, Scott had given Him one of His boards complete with bindings. This is a board that Scott had been using and it has the scars and scratches to prove it. Of course Jay had to go to the lake this last weekend and try out the "new" board. He said it was so slick and fast that he could barely hang on, imagine that on a pro board.
Oh yeah and Scott autographed it to him too. Darnnit why couldn't it have been meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

thats cool i have met alot of pro wakeboarders but never asked for anything maybe i need to change a tire or two.

That's awesome! I'm sure Byerly never thought that someone who would be coming out to help him would actually know who he was! Sounds like he's a stand up guy!

From what I have heard he doesn't put the wakeboard on anymore either. And I heard that from the Internet, so I have know idea.

I ride a board that use to be ridden by a pro also. Some reason it is a confidence booster. You can never blame the board for not being able to land the trick.

He's big into wakeskating now but has his own boards by Hyperlite. Nick Weinacker is sponsored by him/them and had one this past weekend at the event we were at.

He has a sick team of riders on his byerly line...Which is through Kent Sporting Goods. But he doesn't wakeboard anymore, unless he has to make an appearance or shoot a video part.

You mean he doesn't wakeboard in competitions anymore, I'm sure he still rides.

Pretty much doesnt wakeboard anymore at all.

Hyperlite was going to pull his wakeboard pro models a few years back unless he did a video part of him wakeboarding. I forgot the name of the video but it took him like 3 days to film his wakeboard part of like 3 tricks.

When The Paul Obrien started up Ronix, the only way to keep him around was to give him his own company "BYERLY" was than born...

Thats messed up Im jealous because he didnt give ME a wakeboard and I drove 6 hrs to see him and some other peeps. Totally not cool. Im sure he gets bored of the wakeskate and goes for a wakeboarding seshhh.

Isn't HO Watersports making them? I'm pretty sure they are since I have to go to a Hyperlite dealer to get mine replaced due to it's delamination.
