    First time slaloming

I went slalom skieing yesterday for the first time ever and i think i like it more than wakeboarding. A friend of mine went out with me yesterday and he is a really good skier, he has always went behing his crownline 202 and shreds it up behind that, he loved skieing behind my boat, i know my boat doesnt have an amazing wakeboard wake or an amazing ski wake, but it does a pretty good job as a crossover for both, i think the wakeboard might not get much use anymore and i am looking for a nice ski now.

I enjoy both, plus wakesurfing. But no doubt about it, I love cuttin up the butter with a nice slalom ski

I must just be part of the younger breed or somthing..... I can ski fine but don't get much enjoyment out of going fast and just making sharp turns.. When there is just so much more style and what you can do on a wakeboard.. Now dont get me wrong i sometimes just stop and watch those really good skiers cut it up but once you make a few runs what do you do after that..

I guess maybe i would like wakebaording more if i was better at it, i get up every time the first shot, and can jump a little but beyond that i suck, i am a puss about getting hurt, running your own buisness you cannot miss a day.

My kids think slaloming is for old boring bald guys. (Me). Then I showed them how it was done last summer and they were intrigued, but not ready to make the leap to try it. (might not be able to get up on first time, etc).

Last week we were on a friend's Lowe 22' Deckboat with a 115hp outboard. Teenagers all skiied with 2 ski's and got bored. I got in with one ski and demonstrated how to get up with one foot in binding, other foot out acting as a rudder/hydrofoil, even on an underpowered boat. They thought that was cool, and if I could do it, it must be really easy. My 17 yr old son tried to get up 7-8x and couldn't get it (he's so used to the power of our 24ve popping him out of water.) He got out sheepishly with the sense that maybe it is harder than he thought and maybe his old man still has some game. Next time out on our 24ve, he'll get up first time.

Slaloming is way more work on your body than wakeboarding. I do it for a small lap then drop because it's hard. I prefer wakeboarding, but slalmoning every once in a while is fun.

I am 41 and love skiing, and I suck big time at wakeboarding. I am just now taking up surfing but have a long ways to go.

brody - we basically have the same boat, and as long as I don't have 10 people with me, the wake is very nice to ski behind. If I were to ski behind a 20i, I may think otherwise. I went from a stern drive to the Tige.

Also, I would reccomend an HO Comp Freeride (Burner or Charger - depending on how much you weigh). I bought my wife a Venture (the 65" version), and she has improved a ton. It is a great ski.

I cannot believe how sore i am today, from my waist to my knees are sore as heck, o and by the way i got another friend up on two skis last night, it was his 47th birthday and we tried talking him out of it because by that time we had all been drinking for way to long, a few tries and he got up, but he thinks he broke a rib, must suck getting old.

Slaloming is an awesome workout, that's is for sure. And while boarding is painful, for some reason I continue to leave my slalom ski and home and board. My bag of tricks isn't that full on the board, but it is fun. I think next time we are out I will toss the old Connelly Team 1sp in and cut it up a bit.

My 10 year old just loves to mix things up and a couple of weeks ago wanted to slalom. Since we did happen to have one on the boat for a friend of mine, he gave it a go and had a great time.

I know both Zad and I are part of a dieing breed, the younger generation that loves to slalom. I'm 20 and I probably do 30 ski runs for every 1 wakeboard run. I enjoy skiing so much more than wakeboarding it seems like you get to a certain skill level on the wakeboard and then it just gets boring. I can pull 360's with ease and land way out in the flats when wakeboarding but I enjoy skiing a lot more. I was just starting to get into the tournament skiing but broke my ankle a couple weekends ago skiing, but I can't wait to get back on a ski next spring!!

You have to be a skier to really appriciate it. People don't seem to see the skill it takes unless they try it. We are a dying breed because no one has the patience to learn it. Why spend a whole day trying to get up on a slalom ski when you can get up on a wakeboard with ease. I am not dissing wakeboarders, (I wakeboard too) I know it takes a lot of skill to do backflips and 360's, ect. I'm just saying it's easier to learn and takes a lot less energy.
