What Kind of Balony You Get at Other Brands Boatshow Displays?

I think the most non-sense I get is from Mastercraft and Malibu.

    The first question is:
"What other brands are you considering?"
Ya say Tige' and the lies start.

I think the most lied about is the 22i.

"It's a decades old design they bought from another builder that was going broke". One Malibu sales jerk told us.

"Tiges boats are built by Sea Ray" We also heard one day.

"It's too wide to be a good Wakeboard Boat".
Shucks, we've bought two of them,, work excellent.

What kind of non-sense have you heard from other builders?

The MC guys down here in So Cal are fine. So are the CC and Supra guys they all say that the Tige's are good boats and talk more about their boats and their features and don't really bash anyone. The BU dealer will go on a 20 min rant about how every other makers does things wrong and no one is as good as the BU. It was a real turn off. My buddy and I went down and he is a MC owner and I was looking to buy I think I saw steam coming out of his ears when he was ripping the MC.

What is funny down here is all of the dealers know each other and see each other all of the time on the local lakes doing demos.

The local Bu/CC dealer is good about all boats. About Tige, they said they honestly just did not have too much experience with them.

I was at a centurian dealer and he really had nothing bad to say about tige, like you said coach just mainly tried not to talk about them and just overshadow with his brand, did did say one thing about taps and said it is just a trim tab to put a band-aid over the boat jumping in the water, he said that the hull had probelms with porpoising and they did a great job marketing the fix with the name taps

We are out shopping for a boat right now (RZ2 is the current front runner) and no one has bashed the Tige's.. but i am shocked at the level of Mastercraft bashing. Seems everyone is very very quick to say they are all a POS, ride like crap, drive like crap, fall apart, low build quality, etc. The Mastercraft's don't work for us (X-star is too small and teh X45 is too big) but we still thought they were a nice boat. Overpriced? Sure.. but it's not like Tige's are cheap. I was just quoted $78K for a new 09 RZ2. So in my opinion they are all overpriced. Take $80K and buy a traditional sterndrive boat and you would be amazed at how much more boat (features, size, comfort, etc) you end up with (sure.. they suck for boading.. but still. I know this because last year I wrote a big check for a nice sterndrive... now we want a wakeboard boat... strugging a bit with spending the same amount of money for 1/2 the features and comfort in a smaller boat... but worth it for the ability to wakesurf and for a nice wake.

            It boils down to....

Only the MC dealer at the boat show bashed Tige. I can't remember what exactly he said, but something about low quality. All the other dealers simply said "comefor a test ride and decide for yourself."

As for getting what you pay for in a wake boat and the price-- wakeboat buyers are a different animal all together than a normal I/O buyer. In general, I think (and this is just my opinion) we tend to be a little more fashion conscious, a little more affluent (or more willing to go into debt ) and a little bit more picky about the quality we want in our boats. The manufacturers also sell a fraction of the boats I/O builders like Rinker, Sea-Ray, Bayliner, etc.. do, the economy of scale is just not there for wakeboat builders.
With the exception of Cobalt and a couple other high end lines of I/Os the build quality on a Moomba rivals or bests almost all of the I/O lines.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Our dealers aren't into the bashing here. Our Tige dealer, WWS, had a guy that was looking at an RZ2 but had a deposit down on a Malibu ask the Malibu dealer to bring their boat out to the private lake for a head-to-head demo and they finally accepted. The guy drove both boats back-to-back and then wound up buying an RZ4, not RZ2!

That's how you do it, you tell them if their boat is so great to bring it!

Thanks...you saved me from having to write any of it.

Paradise Marine is the worst for sales/service...I would have purchased a 247Wakesetter LSV if they had better taken care of me in the past & if the sales guy wasn't such a "DOUCHE BAG".

I think its just the salesperson you talk to. I dont think that dealers in general make up lies to tell customers about other boat companies.

Very true... I should have clairifed... I would only consider a high end I/O... Cobolt, Crownline, Formula, etc. We were going to purchase a Cobalt but found the Crownline to be a bit more sporty and overall a better boat in the 15' size. So my statement is comparing a waveboard boat to a Crownline/Cobalt type boat. Yesterday my Crownline actually earned itself a couple of points on the "just keep the Crownline" side of the equation... we were out in Lake Washington for SeaFair (it's a Seattle thing) and the lake gets messy... most likely 1000+ boats on the lake... many of them are mega yatchs. nasty choppy water and we were able to simply drop the hammer and go 40-50MPH while many of the smaller boats were strugging to just keep their bows up and out of the water. But it's just one day. I can wakeboard the other 364 days of the year... so i am not going to keep a boat for a better ride 1 day out of the year... so... i have my checkbook out so i can write another big check.
