I know that there is at least one other Tige owner from this forum that boats Lake Allatoona here in Georgia. We ran into some CRAZY weather on Saturday this weekend. All was calm, pulls were made and the day was beautiful. Then we noticed that the sky started to get dark all of a sudden. We decided that we had better high tail it back to the marina. About halfway back the wind started really picking up (news later said around 70+ mph) and then the bottom fell out of the sky. I had the engine pegged out and we were hauling a$$ across the water with 3 ft+ rollers with white caps. My POS Metcraft bimini top started coming apart on the ride back and my wife had to hold it together to keep it from destroying itself (hindsight: I guess it isn't really rated for 40+ mph with a 40 mph headwind) I was reminded of what someone told me in the past "these boats aren't really great on rough water" It may have been a little rough, but it would have been rough for the Titanic. It was really crazy and I had to keep the nose of the boat up to keep from taking waves over the bow. if I would have seen a water spout coming towards us, it wouldn't have surprised me in the least, I may have loaded my pants, but I wouldn't have been surprised. All I could think of the whole way in was Rushin' losing his Tige to the same type of storm. Eventually we made it back to the dock and tied up for the remainder of the storm. There was lightning all around us and some really close strikes but we all made it home safely. A couple of the kids were shaken up, but they were alright in the end.
As fast as this storm came up, it reminded me of why we always have life jackets on the kids when the engine is running.
