    Bose marine 131

Has anyone tried or have the bose 131 they nearly sound to good to be true, but bose speakers are pretty impresive. I'm wanting to upgrade my system from the clarion coaxial spreakers, whats the best and what amp upgrades are needed? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi there. I purchased a Tige at the AZ dealer and had them install a system with amplifier, subwoofer and extra speakers from "Rockord Fosgate".
I have a little experience with stereo and this one is really nice. I like Bose but I do not know anything about the ones you mentioned, however if you want something you will be very very pleased with, this "Rockford Fosgate" system is worth every penny.
    Good luck.

I was looking at RF products they are one of my top choices. Do you know the model # of the speakers how many extra speakers, and what size are your amps?

        dslkd,

Are you looking to add tower speakers and a sub as well?

          dslkd,
You got me on that one. To be honest when I bought the boat I was able to listen to two different systems installed on two different boats. I chose the one with 6 speakers inside the boat, the subwoofer and 2 on the tower but only with one amplifier that I think cranks 700W or more. The other ona was even more powerful, too much for me. The radio is a mid to high level Sony.
I am sorry I don't have the details, I am sure whatever you choose it will work great. The power was a concern since the more you have the more will drain the batteries even at low volume and even though I have 2, I didn't want to be concern all the time.
          I hope it helps.

I want to add a sub a really good set of components and a good amp/s so i can really crank it up but be clear. I'm not really wanting tower speakers right now, but would like to have an amp that would make that possible in the future.

The key is how much are you willing to spend, loud and clear add up to big $$$'s but in my opinion well worth it. I went with Infinity speakers powered by a JL Audio E4300 4 channel amp, JL Audio 10" W6V2 sub powered by an Alpine amp, Sony deck with a sony 10 Disc Changer. The system is loud and clear. Nothing against RF - my buddy has RF in his boat, but mine is louder and clearer. I do not have tower speakers yet is still clear while I board.

What are the infinities are the the Kappa components? Is the sub just using free air? That sounds like what I'm looking for I bet that sounds sweet.

I didn't go with the components although they sound a bit cleaner. The sub is in a standard sub box by the drivers feet. JL Audio makes their own box which I did not buy, I used my existing box so I saved some dollars. I listened to the sub set up both ways and could not tell the difference. You need a big amp when you run one of these subs, JL has one but it would have set me back $550 when the Alpine set me back $450. I had to show the wife I was saving some money - what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Are they the marine or just the regular infinities? I have a couple JL W3's and a Lanzar Otimax 1000 was thinking about using them, or i have 3 W6s that are a little worn but i can send them off to get rebuilt. I just want some bad a$$ highs before i decide what I'm going to do about the subs.

They are regular speakers, I didn't care for the marine sound, they do not get wet for the most part anyway, they can handle a little spray every now and again.
