I don't think his is there, otherwise there is no way water could have made it to the intake as that is above the transmission. Unless they flipped where the intake is on the pcm and it is on the front of the engine looking like that.

no. this is the new version. the intake is just under the gray cover with the black plastic dome over it. unfortunately my model does not have the plastic dome. wonder why they have added covers over the intakes? interesting....

Did you purchase your boat new? Did a previous owner take the dome off?

it was about a year old, from a dealer. harvey did not mention the plastic cover nor have i heard of it til i saw that photo. but i really don't know. i will ask pcm when i speak with them.

There should have been an engine cover with it, even the old ones had them, my guess is that someone took it of to service the engine and forgot to put it on.

i would like to see that in a photo for a 2003 zr6 if you can find it. there is a plastic shield on the top, but not over the intake, and no sign of one. in addition, harvey smith at tige told me it is not needed and still not used on the new ones. is this true? thanks.

intake is on top on rear of motor about a foot from the transom. the transom is slanted forward, pushing sloshed water on top of the motor. i notice you have an 05 22v. what is the set up on your intake and on what motor? thanks.

you wish you could have known. your telling me it never occured to you that bad things could happen if you drive around with a bildge full of that much water! bottom line its is not a normal operating condition and for you to operate the boat like that ALL the blame goes to you. not tige or pcm. you messed up now you have to pay for it. i still can not even come close to understanding were you think tige or pcm should have to pay to fix your boat. im glad you learned from your mistake. but the bottom line is its just that YOUR mistake.

i would agree with you kko if two things were true, one, an unusual amount of water in bilge and two, if tige had done all they could do to prevent this. i have seen boats with intake hoses run forward of the motor away from the bilge, filters attatched, splash covers, etc. i am still of the opinion that a wire mesh screen over the intake of a 10-15k dollar motor positioned directly over a boat's bilge is irresponsible. i don't build boats, but in one major dose of hard lesson learned, i now know enough to know the intake needs more protection. you can bet your boat before i go out again, i will have an improvement made to mine. would i do that if thought i had just been careless and things were fine as is?? but you are right, i will pay for it. other folks have too whether they know it or not. and look at all the money that was saved by just putting that little screen on that intake.

How much water in the bildge is too much water 1 galllon, 5 gallons? is there a number or a level marking or indicator in the boat that is considered not a normal operating condition? how much water did he really have in there?

Where else are you going to put an engine, thats where it belongs.

Its not tige's fault that there is no protection over the intake. Also I didnt know that Tige ever used PCM motors until 2009.

Ok, the normal amount for almost any boat should be a small trail of water. And with a dripless shaft on the newers, next to nothing. Anymore then just a small group of water you should be conserned and drain it asap.
