    New to tige

I've been wakeboarding for several years and I've never ridden in or behind a tige. I am thinking of purchasing a 2000 21v with 350 merc and taps. I'm curious as to all owns this particular boat and how they like it. I would also like to know what people think of the 21v's wake and if they weight the boat in addition to the taps and if the boat has a center ski locker for a center fat sac. any information would be great. I might just be the next tige owner.

I have the same boat, except a year older. There's not much different between the two, except for vinyl and carpet. There's no center ski locker for ballast. The recommended configuration for this boat is 2 sacks (350-400 lbs) in each V-Drive Locker and a V-shaped bow sack underneath the seats in front. Check out the ballast forum and you'll see pictures of my install. It was easy to do and there's a parts list there for most of the key parts, except for hose and hose clamps.

I bought the same boat in the spring upgrading from a I/O as the kids were getting more advanced at wakeboarding. We moved due to a job change shortly after to Miami bringing the boat with us. I was aprehensive at first thinking a salt water center console would better suit us, but have really enjoyed the boat in the bay and along the inter-coastal. The boat has been great so far, while I'm no wakeboarding expert the wake from the boat with no additional ballast works well for us. The quality of the boat is extremely good. My only complaint is the stitching on the cushions. One of my rear cushions has separated in the middle seam. Luckily the company I work for mfgrs. Corp. jet seats and we have a whole department of upholstry people to help me fix it. Check the seams out closely as I think they may have used a lesser quality thread. We love all the room the boat offers over a conventional 21" open bow I/O.
            Good luck...

It's a great looking boat my main concern is what the wake is like and its a long drive to test. The boat only has 200 hours on it and is in wonderful condition for a year 2000. It has truly been taken care of it seems. I already have some gravity edition 400 LBS/ a sac that would be great for the back I was just curious as to where I could place in the front with out having to see them.

Just waiting for Monster to put the new MT2 tower on sale. I really like the one on the old boat for getting the boards out of the boat but the Tige has lots of storage space.

Wouldn't trade ours. Lots of space for people and things. Great wake even without ballast, and being able to carry 12, you can bring your own ballast. If it has the stock prop, you will want to upgrade to a lower pitch acme prop. We have had no issues with the seat seams, but the vinyl is starting to show its age. Like any boat of any brand, it will have its problems, but if it was maintained at all, it will be a great boat for you. My son is in college and has boarded behind most of the brands, and of course, likes our Tige best. Even over his roommates new x45.

Second that on the prop. I just swapped out the factory wheel for the Acme 537 and its now a stump puller. Lost a few mph but not enough to notice.

The wake is tall and clean over twenty mph but when you get up in the two thousand pound range of ballast bubbles are drawn into the top two or so inches of the wake. This is caused by what is called spray pockets(The cuttout sections on the side of the hull which where put there with the intention of making the wake smaller at high speeds).I found that below slalom speed they actually make the wake bigger giving rise to the boats reputation for wakesurfing. They do however cause the boat to list in a turn a bit more than the newer models and require the use of taps at higher speeds.I resolved this with a small trim tab in the pocket totally eliminating the wash. With that said I love my boat and the space it offers,Nobody will ever complain about the wake and it looks good on the water. Also a few years had problems with the towers I don't know which but im sure someone else does.I have a 02 and my tower is ok.

Hey form, how about a pic of the trim tab in the spray pockets! The tower is prone to cracking, mine has, but a competent welder can repair easily. Just something to keep an eye on, just like any part of the boat that gets that much torque applied to it.
